The Cherrywood neighborhood is located between Wilshire Blvd. to the north, Airport Blvd. to the east, Manor Rd. to the south, and I-35 to the west.

Cherrywood is located in East Austin and is often called French Place. French place is a small part of Cherrywood which boasts 3 different communities

(University Park, Schieffer Place). Cherrywood hosts a mix of bungalows, ranch style houses, and two-story stucco duplexes. The names of early owners, like Doris and J.H. French, Bascom and Rogan Giles, Walter Schieffer, Nye Patterson and others, are reflected in the names of streets and parks.

This area was all pasture lands and ranches in the early to mid-20^th century but post World War II, a housing boom hit Austin and changed the area. Homes here are usually under 1500 sq. ft with 2-3 bedrooms. But many have also been remodeled and converted garages into living areas.

Cherrywood neighborhood is mostly a residential area with a few commercial businesses in the area. The residents of this neighborhood care deeply and are active in creating a friendly, great place to live. They look to make the area more walkable and attempt to preserve its charming and quiet atmosphere. They have an annual Art Festival and love to keep "Austin Weird"!

A 2/1, 800 sq. ft home built in 1947 is $175,000 ish. Prices range from there up to $469,000 which would buy you a 4/3, 2,200 sq.ft home build in 1947 (remodeled of course).
