San Antonio native, and Texas legend George Straight, joins Fire Relief: The Concert for Central Texas. The show is scheduled for Tuesday, October 7, 2011 at 7pm. Strait joins the likes of Willie Nelson, The Dixie Chicks, Asleep At The Wheel, and many others in this four hour concert. 

Texas seems to have trouble with that team from Southern California. Ironically, it isn't the USC Trojans, one of the best college football teams of all time. But the school known for a record eleven national championships- in basketball.

After getting blow out by the Bruins twice in the 90's, the rebuilding Longhorns of last year, saw their season slide began; with a humiliating loss to UCLA at home last year. This Saturday, the Longhorns head out to Socal, to try to right last years wrong.

The Horns and Bruins meet at the venerable Rose Bowl at 2:30 PM CST. ABC will televise the game. Texas is a 3 point favorite. The weather is expected to be partly cloudy, clearing in the afternoon, and a game time temperature of 78 degrees.

Award winning performers Sade and John Legend, will be performing at the Frank Erwin Center on September 7, 2011 at 7:30 pm. Come see one of the greatest voices of the last twenty years, perform hits from the 80's, and her latest critically acclaimed album. Also, superstar John Legend, will be opening the show.

September 3rd 2011 ~ Football ~ UT Longhorns versus Rice University

It's that time of year! This weekend on Saturday, September 3rd, Austin will be colored burnt orange as UT plays Rice at the Darrel K. Royal Memorial Stadium at 7 pm. Tailgate parties will be found just about any place in town especially any place close to campus! Unless you're going to the game venturing anywhere near the stadium might be a bad idea!

Just keep in mind what Major Applewhite said "Football's so important in Texas. On the West Coast, it's a social. On the East Coast, it's a culture. Here, it's a religion." Let's Go Horns!! Hook 'em!

Horns of Plenty ~ Improving Lives ~ Luce Scholarship Winner

The University of Texas is an amazing place of higher education. We are so fortunate to live in a city where such pride is taken in maing a difference in lives of those around them.

Christopher (C.J.) Stanfill, a doctoral student found his passion working with children who use prosthetics. C.J. recognized the mere act of moving can be a daily challenge for many youngsters wearing a prosthetic. He wants to make a difference in these children's lives through his research in the University's Movement Science Program. Stanfill, who's in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Education, is one of only 15 scholars nationwide to receive the prestigious honor.
