Bastrop Texas has a long and varied history!

Deb Dahlberg Rowland: Real Estate Agent in Bastrop, TX

Bastrop Texas has a long and varied history.

In the very early 1800's the Spanish established a fort where the "Kings Highway" crossed the Colorado River on it's way to Louisiana to the east and Mexico to the south. Bastrop's existence was fortified by the river, the road of commerce, it's fertile soils, and the loblolly pines. The town of Bastrop was platted in the mid 1800's. The rolling pastures, fertile soils, and pines in the area appealed to settlers. Large farms and ranches were established. Cotton and lumber were a consistent form of commerce for many years.

Today Bastrop is a great mix of new and old.

Along Highway 71 ( a part of the old "Kings Highway" ) the conveniences of many nationally known box stores, restaurants, and hotels have sprung up. The recent growth has brought Bastrop a new City Hall, Convention Center, and Performing Arts Center. But, don't worry, Bastrop has not lost it's quaint historic feel.

Bastrop has been named Texas' Most Historic Town.

On downtown Main Street businesses are conducted out of many Historic buildings. Walk a few blocks off of Main Street and you will find a grand collection of vintage and historic homes along the tree lined streets in the Bastrop Historic Districts.

Bastrop growth has also brought newer residential subdivisions convenient to local schools in Bastrop and out in the county there are subdivisions that offer estate sized lots, and some are even horse friendly. The County also is rich with beautiful farm and ranch acreages with stocked tanks, sandy loam soils, pastures, pines, and oaks.

Outdoor types enjoy Bastrop County for all it has to offer!

With fishing, kayaking, and canoeing on the Colorado River, to golf at three local golf courses, hiking and camping at two local parks in the pines, fishing and boating on Lake Bastrop about three miles outside of town, and riding trails at McKinney Roughs, there is something for everyone in Bastrop!

I recently drove through Riverside Grove to preview a listed property for one of my Clients and I took a few extra minutes to take some pictures of the subdivsion which I put in to a short video presentation of the area and homes in Riverside Grove.  Some of the highlights of the area are two schools within a very short walking  distance.  The subdivision has an active homeowners association and light covenants.  If you would like more information on buying, selling, or leasing in this subdivision please contact me.
