This is a heartwarming story that was in the San Antonio TX newspaper today.
THE CENER FOR THE INTREPID - SAN ANTONIO TEXAS (WELL SPENT TAX DOLLARS)
Located at Brooke Army Medical Center

As most of you know San Antonio is a big military city including a large well known medical facility that accommodates many of the wounded soldiers. They have been sent here from injuries that occurred from the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. The medical treatment they get is the best in the world.
I read in the paper this morning that a new device has been introduced that can help with the recovery..called IDEO - Intrepid Dynamic Exoskeletal Orthosis. This new device weighs less than two pounds. It is made to custom fit the ankle and foot and made of carbon and fiberglass. This device will allow them to jump, move run and continue to have a great quality of life and can be worn under the pant leg.
The Center for the Intrepid has fitted 140 soldiers with this device the last two years. Many have re-deployed back to the front lines.

This story pulled at my heart for these young people, and yet I am happy to see that new interventions are being made available to help with the recovery. These are injuries that will never go away so why not "pay our tax money" for such a good cause. Too me this is what we should be doing with our tax money ... assist in any way to help these folks. After all....they are doing this so that we may enjoy our freedom each and every day.
Here is some additional information regarding the
http://www.fallenheroesfund.org/About-IFHF/Fund-History/The-Center-for-the-Intrepid.aspx
The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund has constructed a world-class state-of-the-art physical rehabilitation facility for wounded warriors at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. The Center opened on January 29, 2007 with a grand ceremony attended by Senators John McCain and Hillary Rodham Clinton, Veterans Affairs Secretary James R. Nicholson, Deputy Secretary of Defense Gordon England; Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Peter Pace, USMC, and government and military leaders at the highest levels. 3,000 supporters also joined the event.
The Center, operated by the army, serves military personnel who have been catastrophically disabled in operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Center also serves military personnel and veterans severely injured in other operations and in the normal performance of their duties, combat and non-combat related.
The Center encompasses a 60,000 square foot structure, providing ample space and facilities for the rehabilitation needs of the patients and their caregivers and includes top-of-the-line indoor and outdoor facilities.
The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund raised $45 million for constructing the Center. We thank the over 600,000 who contributed to this effort with gifts large and small.
In the Fall of 2007, The Honorable George W. Bush, 43rd President of the United States, visited the Center for the Intrepid for a behind-the-scenes tour and spent time with some of the service members being treated there. "The Center is a tribute to the generosity of the American people," he said. "Make no mistake about it - the American people support the men and women who wear our nation's uniform. The Center is a testament to our deep belief that someone wounded in defense of America needs all the help that he or she can get."
May God Bless Our Troops and May God Continue to Bless this U.S.A.

I know exactly what you are thinking GET'ER FIXED.
Well somebody has to talk about it and I guess it's me. This is something most folks don't ever ever ever want to talk about or discuss....until something happens and then it becomes Very Very Very important.
It works for you 365/24/7 if you have one. If you don't then need not worry. It's something called SEPTIC.
Here's a little blurp of information if you live in Comal County and have a Septic System. Shhhhhhhhhsh I won't say it too loudly.
Simple photo shot -it kinda looks like this
Ok there are different type septic systems,Aerobic, Conventional, Hoot, blah blah blah. It will be designed for YOUR specific property. I know you are thinking just get'er fixed and I don't care about what it looks like, or why or why not its not working.
I wanted to give you this link which is an excellent source for information if you have a Septic System in Comal County TX.
This website will give you some very good information. #1. It is important your system be maintained. Whether it is a brand new system or a system that will come with an existing home you are about to purchase. You are responsbile for everything that goes down your drain or flush down your toilet.
Why is it important to have your system Inspected and Pumped...it can save you from having costly repairs or even replacement. Simple maintenance can save you money and aggreviation.
some helpful informatin
At the bottom of this blog there is some information. CCEO will be holding a class for home owners.
Without regular pumping of the septic tank, the system can overflow. Sometimes overflow can lead back to the house, where your toilets and drains belch what's supposed to be in the septic tank.
Yuck, I know that is exactly what you are thinking. Not a pleasant thought.
Overflow can also lead to a sudden deluge of unprocessed waste flooding the drain field. When this happens, water can seep above ground, which leads to a flooded yard and run-off into nearby water bodies like creeks and rivers. Below ground, this flood can cause further damage, tainting groundwater. Together, these intrusions of waste can contaminate the water people use and drink. The waste introduced into the water supply can carry harmful bacteria and disease. (Additional information can be acquired from CCEO
Not to scare you but as a home owner and if you have a septic system just don't forget it is there. In most cases a simple pump or repair can get you up and running with minimal expense. Then if that doesn't work you will be possibly looking at a replacement. Rplacement is costly and the price can vary with type and size of the system.
I have probably given you more information then you care to read, but it is a fact. One day tree roots may cause a problem or your system may just plain fail. Then it is time to have it inspected, pumped or replaced.

A little something extra...Weathervanes and Cupolas.
We have been driving around looking at properties for sale and Ceil noticed something something that made us think we should do a blog.
Weathervanes & Cupolas
You can certainly add beauty to your home and roof. Some can be purchased and some can be custom made. Whether it is custom made or already made this is something that could add to the value and may even help in getting folks through the front door when your home is on the market for sale. It's all about curb appeal. One of these could definitely make your home stand out or maybe one of each.
Think unique: Weathervane is unique because it can show the direction of the wind. Definitely an eye catcher when it is twirling around. We are all familiar with the rooster weathervane, but my favorite is the flag weathervane. They are affordable and can add a new look to your home.
Great if you live in the country
My favorite
Think unique: Cupolas - This is one most of us is familiar with

There are many styles to pick from. Maybe one of each will do you well.
Riding around New Braunfels an Canyon Lake Texas can cerainly give you an idea for your next Localism Blog.
