ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PARADE AT CANYON LAKE TEXAS

WHAT:

The annual Canyon Lake Christmas Parade.

WHERE:

At Canyon Lake in downtown Sattler.

WHEN:

Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 11:00 am

BUT...get there early because the streets close down before the parade starts!

WHO:

The parade is sponsored by the Canyon Lake Noon Lions Club and the participants include San Antonio Stockshow and Rodeo Assn, The Shriners, Local and State Dignitaries, Canyon Lake High School Might Hawk Band, Cheerleaders, Dance Teams, Mountain Valley Middle School Mighty Hawk Band, Dance Team and Cheerleaders, various civic, church, community, youth organizations, military and local businesses, plus more!

The parade is emceed by Jeani Thomas Richie (me, pictured above).

WHY:

Because the Canyon Lake Christmas Parade is a much loved and longstanding tradition in the community and everybody loves a parade!

HOW:

Many hours of work go into the planning and execution of this event! Thank you to the many people, businesses and organizations who take the time to create a fun event for our community! We appreciate each and every one of you!

YOU:

Should make it a point to be on the side of FM 2673 in downtown Sattler this Saturday morning at 11:00am to enjoy one of Canyon Lake's best treasures! You will have a wonderful time and you can stay after the parade to enjoy lunch in one of our restaurants and do a little Christmas shopping in the local shops!

Canyon Lake Texas HalloweenFest in Sattler!

We live and work in a rural area where trick or treating is just not something that is easily done. It is dark, there are wild animals, there are stretches of road where it is a mile between homes. It is just not an area conducive to the festivities that accompany the Halloween holiday. Fortunately we have a great Chamber of Commerce that rallied the businesses in one of our communities to start a central trick or treating event for the kids of the area. It has been a raving success and has turned into a rather large and well attended event. Each year it just seems to get bigger!

Canyon Lake Texas HalloweenFest in Sattler!

The solution is a great one...the Comal County Sheriffs and Constables direct traffic and help pedestrians cross the streets and the traffic which is usually about 45mph through town are slowed to a crawl, the businesses open their doors, dress in costumes and hand out candy. Businesses from outside of the main area can set up tables in the parking lots of other businesses and some businesses have gone all out and created games, displays and haunted houses. It is so cool, so small town and a great time of fun and fellowship that unifies our community.

Canyon Lake Texas HalloweenFest in Sattler!

A few years back the school got into the action. Mountain Valley Middle School (where my son attends) is in Sattler one block off the main street and they now have a Fall Carnival with food booths, games and festivities adding yet another fun dimension to the whole event. This year I will be making funnel cakes in the Band Boosters booth to help raise money for our band to travel to Dallas in the spring for a contest and end of year trip to Six Flags! I love living in a community where the creativity of the people and businesses can provide a fun, safe and festive environment where the citizens can come for Halloween. I must say that our company has had a table at the HalloweenFest since the first year and I have had a blast dressing up and handing out candy to the kids of our community...oh yeah and handing out trick or treat bags with our company name and logo on them...
