It will be managed by CHRISTUS Health, an international Catholic Health system. According to the report, over 274 jobs will be created with average annual incomes of over $45,000 per year. The number of jobs is expected to increase to 420 over the next 10 years. You'll find the article here: CHRISTUS Hospital in Alvin. This is great news at a time when the number of jobs seems to be shrinking more often than not. It will be nice for Alvin residents to have the convenience of a quality local hospital too!

The vote is in! The Alvin ISD bond election has passed. Early voting showed 60% of voters in favor of the bond, which will provide funds for a third elementary school in Shadow Creek Ranch, Pearland. Alvin ISD has also purchased land for a third high school to be built near the Pearland Towne Center on Broadway. Even with current economic conditions, Alvin ISD is still growing in subdivisions along the 288 corrider ( Rodeo Palms, Southfork and Sedona Lakes in Manvel and Shadow Creek Ranch and Southern Trails in Pearland). One reason for the growth is most likely the area's convenient access to Houston, specifically the Medical Center. For all Brazoria County election results go to http://thefacts.com/index.lasso.

What in the world do all of these things have in common? The answer: details. At my house, we're nearing the end of a master bath update/remodel. (When you live in a house that was built in 1961, remodeling is a way of life!) A contractor has taken care of the major items. We now have new plumbing and lighting fixtures, new tile on the floor and in the shower. The beadboard and trim boards are installed and partially painted. We could finish the painting and stop there, It would look "ok", but why settle for "ok" when a few little touches will make the room look even better. So....I got out the caulk and began filling the nail holes and joints in the trim. I've sanded a few rough spots on the wall. NOW it's ready for the final coat of paint. Those little things will make the finished project go from "ok" to great. I used to sew years ago...emphasis on "used to"...and I felt the same way about my projects. I realized that if I didn't take short cuts and added a few details, I would be much happier with my creation, and have fewer disasters! Real estate transactions are much the same. Paying attention to the details from start to finish can avoid disaster and make for a much nicer outcome for all concerned! Whether it's making sure a listing has a current windstorm certificate (very important in Pearland, Alvin, Friendswood...all of Brazoria and Galveston Counties) or being certain not to let a contract's option period or financing contingency dates slip by, details can save clients money and headaches. They're important. They matter because ignoring them can make for a miserable and possibly costly experience....and because the buyers and sellers involved matter. The "finished product" is a happy home owner or seller. That said, I'll continue to be a "detail person" even when it takes a little more time and effort. It's worth it in the end!
