Fun Day Trip From Houston -- Hearne Depot Grand ReOpening -- Saturday 4/9/11

Liz Flint Houston\Tomball Realtor (832)816-8066: Real Estate Agent in Houston, TX

hearne train station

Hearne RailRoad Station Grand ReOpening -- last Saturday 4/9/11. After putting up signs and taking pictures at one of my listings in Conroe, I went over to Hearne for the Grand ReOpening of the RailRoad station.

car show

They had a small car show outside the station.

hearne show

You can also see a Hearne fire truck in the background. The Pump Jack in the foreground proclaims the original opening for the Hearne depot to be 1901.

antiques

Here were were some of the displays. This case held some antiques. This is a cash register and a radio.

map of hearne

This map of hearne shows nice straight streets. I think the top right section is where the train station is. Let me know if you know for sure.

up emblem

They had lots of train decals there, this Union Pacific one caught my eye.

station displays

Here is another room in the station where they have exhibits and lots of old photos, as well as a model train exhibit.

pic of station

I like the Hearne depot because of the big "X" formed by the railroad tracks. Hope you can visit someday and see the depot for yourself. The hours are Wednesday - Saturday 11am - 4pm.

The Plants Finally Won

Trey Thurmond, College Station , Texas Homes: Real Estate Agent in College Station, TX

We were enjoying the afternoon today in historical downtown Calvert Texas visiting the antique and craft shops. It appears this this lonely building on a street corner has finally lost out to mother nature..

Here are some other views along the main drag on Hwy 6

Calvert is a short drive north of Bryan-College Station and is a good spot to visit if you are on a "staycation or just passing through. There are several quaint little shops to enjoy a sandwich or a gourmet meal and to shop for gifts, antiques or handcrafted furniture. There are many beautiful Victorian antique homes in Calvert.

Why I love Where We Live In Robertson County

Trey Thurmond, College Station , Texas Homes: Real Estate Agent in College Station, TX

Our summer flowers kind of drag on for most of the summer and then it seems like they just go crazy and all bloom at once. The bees, butterflies, and a whole host of other nectar lovers also go crazy at the last moment. Here is a small collage of some of what we experienced this season. It is always sad when the last flowers fall of the vine. Before long there won't be a lot to see or smell as winter sets in.
