Relocating can be an emotional and stressful event! You are leaving behind not only your home, but your neighborhood, town and lifestyle. This can be difficult for adults and scary for children. Usually the children adjust much faster than the adults so a little patience and a strong show of excitement of the new things to come will quickly engage everyone in the new adventure.
Find the lifestyle & quality of life you desire first!
Deciding on a new town and neighborhood is one of the most important factors in buying a new home. Relocation buyers usually have options about the towns and neighborhoods where they can buy their home. The first step should be engaging the right local Realtor to assist with your relocation. The second step should be deciding on a new hometown. Be sure that your local Realtor is dedicated to helping find the town and neighborhood that best meets your desired lifestyle.
Buyers, make your lifestyle list! Adults should confer with each other and make a list of their lifestyle requirements and dreams. Be realistic but dare to dream. This is your opportunity to make changes and prepare for long time quality of life in your new hometown.
Engage the children! A family meeting where everyone can discuss lifestyle ideas will generate excitment and make everyone feel they have a say in the move.
Engage your local Realtor! Share this list with your Realtor in the first discussions before you make that first trip to the relocation destination. Your Realtor should immediately be able to pinpoint areas that will be of interest to you and meet your needs. You will likely have a short list of things you MUST have and a long list of the things you would like to have. You may be amazed at just how many things you find to assure quality of life when you make the big move. Moving is the perfect chance to add new excitement to your life and open doors of greater opportunity. Find your new hometown first and it will be easier to find your new home.
