About Dallas' Preston Hollow

Aboca's Italian Grill has done it again! They recently opened a second location on the Northwest corner of Meadow Road and Central Expressway in North Dallas. You will find the same delicious food, enjoyed at the original Aboca's on the Southwest corner of Belt Line Road and Central Expressway in Richardson.

After dining with friends at the Richardson location last weekend and enjoying the "over the top" Osso Bucco and Tiramisu, we decided to branch out and try the new location on Monday evening. We ordered pizza with fresh mozzarella and Italian sausage. I was pleasantly surprised that the largest pizza, with two special toppings, was less than $17.00. A near-by competitor charges nearly $30 for the same pizza. We shared the house made Strawberry Cake and Italian Cream Cake, as we already knew the Chocoholic Cake and the Tiramisu were beyond delicious. We were not disappointed.

Remember to bring your favorite bottle of wine. There is a small uncorking fee for each person served. If you are interested in Osso Bucco and Tiramisu, it is best to call ahead and preorder the items.

On Friday and Saturday evenings, reservations are suggested. Saturday evening, the Richardson location was packed at 6:30, with people waiting in line, outside the door.

Central Market - Preston Royal Opening

Everyone in Preston Hollow is eagerly anticipating the opening of the new Central Market store on the Southeast corner of Preston and Royal. It has been interesting to follow the transformation of the former Borders store from book lover's delight to food lover's paradise. Although locals appreciate that the remodel is a tremendous undertaking, they are like kids in the back seat of a car asking their parents, "When will we be there?" Well, we are almost there! The new Central Market is scheduled to open on February 15!

MesoMaya is an innovative Mexican restaurant located on the Northwest corner of Preston Road and Forest Lane in North Dallas When you walk through the front door you find yourself in a trendy modern restaurant that feels like it belongs in Chicago or NYC, rather than a strip mall parking lot! The restaurant has three distinct dining areas, which makes it perfect for private parties. Chef Nico Sanchez prepares his delicious recipes in the open kitchen.

We tried the Budin Azteca Chicken, described as a Mexican lasagna and it was delicious. My favorite food of the night was the divine tamale recipe! The portions of the items served were generous.

Crème de la Cookie

Extra! Extra! One of my favorite bakeries, Crème de la Cookie, has just opened a third location at Northpark Center, between Neiman Marcus and Tiffany's. Toni Rivard's Cakeballs is the perfect place to stop for a delicious treat and some extra energy while you are power shopping this weekend. Cakeball flavors run the gamut, from Chocolate-Chocolate, to Chai Spice, to Italian Cream. There is a flavor for everyone!

Stop by for your "pick me up cakeball" and you will be hooked on these tasty treats forever!

I thought I would provide those of you who were unable to attend H & M's Grand Opening today, with an update. Many dedicated H & M shoppers, both men and women, arrived before dawn with pillows and blankets to wait in line, to be among the first shoppers of the day! The store opened at 12:00PM. By 2:00 PM, it was estimated that over two thousand shoppers had checked out the trendy store's new digs. H & M predicted that more than 10,000 shoppers would walk through their doors on day one! Amazing! The lines you see in the photo below stretched all the way around NorthPark Center! The event was complete with the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders keeping everyone's spirits high while they waited in line for many hours! I recommend waiting a few days before checking out this trendy new store!
