The park was funded with assistance through the Texas Recreation and Parks Account Program administered by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. The 27 acre park provides connections to existing trails east at The Villages of Bear Creek Park and west at McCormick Park.

The schools consisted of Bear Creek Elementary, Lakewood Elementary, North Euless Elementary and Euless Junior High who formed the Kid’s Design Council. The students played an important role by suggesting design elements that were incorporated into the park.The park has been open since January 2006.
