Extreme Home Makeover Reveal in Floresville, TX Today

Today is the big day. The reveal for Extreme Home Makeover's final show is today. The time is uncertain but the crowds are already gathering. Cindy and I-- The Total Edge Team - have already gotten several phone calls from people wanting to know the location and how to get there. Once someone gets to Floresville, the directions are easy. Turn left at the light at Hwy 181 & Hwy 97 at the Bill Miller's and go about 8 miles. The signs will lead the way.
This home is being built for Shilo Harris, a Wounded Warrior and his family. The links below are my blogs and the website with his story.
This is to be the last show for Extreme Home Makeover

Floresville Tx has the Extreme Home Makeover -- last show to shown in December 2012
Well, went out to the site today. They are moving along. Unveiling is Saturday, January 21.
We in Floresville, TX are having a ball watching this home go up. The roads are busy with traffic, coming and going. While the address is Floresville, the location is in the Stockdale, Tx school district so I imagine the Stockdale schools are all abuzz also.

Extreme Home Makeover is in Floresville, TX.
Everyone was so excited to learn that Extreme Home Makeover was planning their last project to air here in Floresville, TX. THEN, when I was told who it was to honor I was even more excited. This soldier was badly wounded in Iraq. His name is Shilo Harris and he has a wonderful family behind him. His wife Kathreyn and his children.
The reason this is so special for me is that my first listing in Floresville was the home that Shilo & Kathreyn bought. While I was not the buyers agent but the listing agent, I did get to meet them and as you go through the contract period you learn something of both your client and the other agent's clients. My seller Randy has become someone I consider to be a great person and a friend. Shilo and his wife and their agent were great to work with. When I went out to the house to remove my signs from the fence, Shilo asked me if it was ok if he cut them down. That was fine with me so he and the boys ran & cut the signs off the fence as they took possession of their new home. Kathreyn was expecting a baby at that time in 2008 so they were glad to have the room.
Living in the country on more than 2 acres with over 2200 square feet seemed good.
Well, now Extreme Home Makeover has chosen the Shilo Harris family to receive a makeover. He needs a more sophisticated filteration system for his health and they were surprised last Saturday morning with the sound of Ty Pennington's bull horn calling them outside.
The teams are working around the clock. Gordon Hartman who was a very successful builder in San Antonio has started Morgan's Wonderland and through that foundation this edition of Extreme Home Makeover is being sponsored.
The crowds are getting to go across the street in the cow pasture and watch the progress. The fun part for us is the show is to be aired in December 2012 so they brought the bus in with a huge Christmas bow on the front and the house is to be decorated in a Christmas theme. Cannot wait to see the South Texas landscape made up to look like Christmas this coming Saturday. South Texas has been having a heat wave. We are in the 70s and may hit as high as 80 tomorrow.
As we learned about this exciting thing happening here in Floresville, the first thought of myself and Randy was joy. Then we wondered about his house and what would happen to it. It is not destroyed so that was a comfort but when I look at the picture with the siding missing it does make me sad. But the hope is that some other family will get to enjoy this home.
Best of Wishes to the Shilo Harris family. We are excited and happy for them but are excited for the community of Floresville also.
You can read Shilo's story on

Be sure and watch next December. I will have to blog to remind everyone. Hopefully more and better pictures. Oh, and as an aside to my fellow Rainers, this blog put me past the 100,000 mark. I'm excited.

Opry Night in Floresville, TX sponsored by the Wilson County Historical Society
Due to the hard work and dedication of La Juana Newman-Leus and Viola Henke the premiere of the Opry Night in Floresville, TX was a success. The Wilson County Historical Society decided to have an old fashioned opry with country and gospel music on November 3, 2011. The turnout was great and good fun was had by all. We saw some of the dancing that we had seen in our younger days as many turned out on the dance floor. Some even did the polka.
The night was filled with music by “Playin’ to Win”, Elizabeth Tilley, Archie Pawelek, “Two and a Half Angels”, Perry and Paula Metheny with the Methany Brothers Band, 14 year old Sierra Cecil, Leon Payne, Jr (son of the famous country star and songwriter Leon Payne, Sr), Roy Farley and Allison Clements and Terry Smith of the First Baptist Church.
