Cork and Culinary Fair in Fulshear Texas

Fulshear is only a few miles away from Katy Texas and the movement of folks coming to this area these days is west heading towards or arriving in the Fulshear and the surrounding areas. Land to build new homes zoned to Katy ISD south of Interstate I-10 is running out. That is a basic fact. If you or family wants to buy a new home in South Katy that is zoned to Katy ISD you need to stop procrastinating and take action. No I am not saying this just to get someone to buy a home. I am just warning you of the eventual outcome if you continue to sit on the sidelines.

The second annual Fulbrook Wine and Culinary Fair will be held on Saturday April 14, 2012 with the fair being held from Noon until 6:00 P.M. and a gourmet dinner at 6:30 P.M. The dinner will be catered by Jackson & Company. The promoters are saying spend a day in the country while eating and drinking good wines. Fulbrook is a master Planned Community in the Fulshear area. Fulbrook is located on FM 1093, one mile west of Downtown Fulshear. Turn left on Fulbrook Road after the new vineyard.

The fair will have several events of interest. There are going to be 15 wine and food pairing tents with both wine and food originating from the Mediterranean area. Celebrity Chef Angelo Sosa from the Top Chef Series will be onsite for all to meet and talk to. Several cooking demonstrations will take place and of course there will be music for all to enjoy.

Ticket prices are not cheap but might be worth every penny. The cost of the fair is $35/ person and the Gourmet Dinner is $135/ person. These prices are for advance purchase. A portion of all proceeds collected will go to the Methodist Cancer Center at West Houston which is right here in the Katy area.

I usually do not write about events which are being held this far into the future but with the high price of these tickets and the time needed to enjoy this whole event require advance planning. This is the Saturday before the dreaded tax deadline and this year since April 15, 2012 is a Sunday the filing deadline becomes Monday April 16, 2012. There is plenty of time to enjoy a good meal and some wine and then get back to at least filing an extension if you have waited till the bitter end to get this chore over with.

My wife and I really do enjoy good wine and an excellent meal and this might be of those events that no one wants to miss.

New Home Development to Begin in Fulshear near Katy Texas

Beazer Homes has teamed up with Taylor Morrison homes to develop and build homes in Fulshear Texas. The neighborhood is named Churchill Farms and will consist of approximately 570 homes when completed. Each of the two partners is taking a 50% share of development and home lots costs. The neighborhood is being built on 209 acres and is located on Highway 1463 south interstate I-10. The Western boundary of Cinco Ranch is nearby and you can already see that the site is being prepared for home building.

The plans are for homes to be priced in the $180,000 to $400,000 range. The neighborhood will have a community center, pool, two acre park that includes a dog park and a playground. It is expected the first closing will be during September 2012. This neighborhood is in Fort Bend County but does not have a Katy mailing address. The schools are zoned for Katy ISD. Experts point out that the Houston area in total needs about 150,000 new homes from a demand standpoint and these builders are not building from a speculation point of view.

I will be curious to see how this new neighborhood starts and develops from here. I will also be interested to see the size of the home lots.

Holiday Expo Promotes Women Owned Business in Fulshear Texas

Saturday November 12, 2011 Cross Creek Ranch in Fulshear Texas which is close by to Katy Texas will hold the second annual Mommy Swagger Holiday Expo. The event will be held in the multipurpose room in Cross Creek Ranch or 6450 Cross Creek Bend Lane, Fulshear, Texas. And run from 10:00 A.M. till 5:00 P.M. The Mommy Swagger main purpose is to promote women owned local business who makes unique hand crafted items. Most of these businesses are small and need a venue such as the Expo so they can properly market their products but incur fairly low costs.

The 2011 Expo will have at least 25 different vendors marketing their crafts which range from clothing to home décor.

One of the booths will be providing complimentary gift wrapping and all donations collected will be given to the Katy Candlelighters charity. The Katy Candlelighters provide support to families which have been devastated by a child family member being diagnose with cancer.

Almost Speechless Monday September 12, 2011 in Cross Creek Ranch Fulshear Texas near Katy

Cross Creek Ranch is a Master Planned Community developed by Trendmaker that is located off of FM 1093 approximately 7 miles west of the Grand Parkway or 99. This neighborhood has a majority of the zoned to attend Katy ISD schools. I believe it is one of the more beautiful areas in west section of Houston and Fulshear is right next to where the Katy Texas mailing address ends. Cross Creek has numerous amenities and excellent homes.
