Hufsmith, TX

Well, it's actually over in Huffsmith just east of Tomball in Harris county just South of the Montgomery county line. It's one of those places. You know.... they kind that everybody talks about but you probably wouldn't go in if you weren't with a "local"..... but the food is just like yo mama used to cook and all the docs tell you not to eat.... Well.... let me tell you what there's a great many old people than old doctors. Eat here every now and then. You won't regret it! The place I'm talking about is Mel's Country Cafe over on Stanolind Rd in Huffsmith. We try to get in there once a week. They've got chicken fried steak on the steam table on Wednesday and Fried Catfish of Fridays and of course if you want a challenge then you want to try on the MEGA Mel's burger. Frankly I wouldn't even want to watch you eat it. That thing is HUGE!

OK. The steam table is only open Tuesday thru Sunday (closed Monday's...) but they serve from the menu all the other times even when they have the steam table. The food's worth the trip but if you get there right at lunch you're gonna have to stand in line for a while.

It's a little gritty (the place, not the food).... but that's what makes it charming and comfortable. And not I didn't get anything for saying all this. I just like their food. You will too!
