Last night was the Tasting the Town event at the Humble Civic Center. And there is no other word except YUMMY that describes our evening. Event founder, Jennifer Jozwiak of Coffee News, and her team did an amazing job of organization. It was a fantastic event for the Humble area. Attendance surpassed expectations.
At Tasting the Town, our team sponsored a table. We set up the table with a large Texas Star, had team brochures for each place setting & got ready to meet some new people.
As the event's attendees made their way around the venue, they'd stop to sit and enjoy their food. We talked with them, gave out our Your Texas Connection packet of information & had them fill out an entry form for a drawing. We were giving away four $25 gift cards to the winner's restaurant of choice - chosen from Tasting the Town's vendors.
We met so many nice people. Shared a few hilarious stories (Did you know that in Pittsburgh they serve french fries on their salads?) and I even met another Susan, born in the same year, just a day later than me.
The food was FANTASTIC! Tasting the Town had over 32 food vendors to select from. Everything from barbecue (Texas Roadhouse) to nachos (Mission Burrito) to Pasta Verona (Hasta La Pasta). And desserts galore! Our favorite sweet was presented by Top Hat Catering of Humble (281) 446-8434. It was chocolate bread pudding served in a edible chocolate shell.
Second runner-up was the Tres Leches cake from Chuys.
HEB had a large booth with wine, food & desserts. They were fun to interact with and the food was delicious.
The manager from the Atascocita HEB, Tony Klaus, was there talking to everyone about what HEB has to offer. Thanks Tony for all that HEB does. We also received a coupon for a free meal from the HEB Cafe on the Run!
For Summerwood residents - the wait is over. A new HEB is coming in August of 2010 on the northeast corner of Beltway 8 & W. Lake Houston, behind the fountain.
All in all the first annual Tasting of the Town put on by Coffee News was a huge success. We will definitely be back next year. A special thanks to Sandy Masiak of Networking Connections for helping us secure our table.

More Irish dancing from Anne Squires breakout session, by Shawn Silver, a Riverdancer who broke his back & was told he would never walk again. If You Think You Can, You Can! It made quite an uplifting start to the presentation!
