Art Night for Ladies in Katy Texas

The Katy Visual and Performing Arts Center (KVPAC) located at 2501 S. Mason Road Katy Texas suite 290 will be hosting a Ladies Art extravaganza on Friday February 3, 2012 from 6: 00 P. M. until 8:00 P.M. The center is physical located off of mason Road and I advise using a map such as Google. This is a women’s only art technique class taught by a local Katy artists. The cost is $35 per person. If you desire to drink wine you can bring your own wine as this is that type of event. (BYOW)

I have written about other events being held at the KVPAC involving live theatre but I have no idea about an art class. If anyone attends I would be interested in hearing feedback.

Local Job Fair in Katy Texas

A job fair will be held on Thursday January 26, 2012 at Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Community church located at 15030 Norwalk Dr. Katy Texas. The fair is from 9:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. The job fair is FREE and it is estimated over 50 companies will be in attendance looking to fill positions ranging from Receptionist to Vice President in the industries of finance, healthcare, IT , engineering plus numerous others.

A complete list of all companies and positions the companies are attempting to fill will be given to job candidates on Thursday morning. Please do not ask for a list prior to the event as the effort is to provide the most accurate information to job seekers.

The job fair is steered in the direction of degreed career minded professional individuals. Individuals with some college and/or substantial work experience are encouraged to attend.

The main instruction to job seekers is to bring a large number of resumes and dress appropriately.

The blog I posted on Saturday January 21, 2012 was titled “Create an Electronic Resume in Katy Texas” and the above Job fair goes hand in hand with having a resume. Good luck to all the attendees. Epiphany of the Lord is a friendly place and the folks there will be helpful and courteous. My family and I are members of this church.

Create an Electronic Resume in Katy Texas

The Katy Branch Library as part of the Harris County Library system will host a seminar on Saturday January 21, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. which will teach attendees how to write an electronic resume. These days all folks need to have an updated resume which can be sent as an attachment to E-mail. The seminar will teach how to create, maintain and upload an electronic resume.

Space for all of these computer based courses is limited. I suggest call the library at 281-391-3509 to reserve a spot or go by the Branch Library. The Katy Branch Library is located t 5414 Franz Road Katy Texas.

There are still way too many folks that are unemployed or underemployed here in Katy and through this nation. I always support efforts by anyone who is attempting to help someone find a new job.

Make Holiday Cards and Gift Tags in Katy Texas

The Maud Marks Library which is one the Harris County Library system is teaching a class where individuals will learn how to make their own Holidaycards and gift tags. The class is being held on

Tuesday December 20, 2011 at 7 :00 P.M. The Library is located at

1815 Westgreen Blvd. Katy Texas. Theclass is my favorite price of

Free. Seating as with all these computer classes is very limited. One

needs to make reservations by calling the Library at 281-492-8592.

The class will teach the fundamental concepts Microsoft Publisher

and Basic keyboard and mouse skills are prerequisites.

I wish I hadthe timeto attend this class as I personally would like to

learn how to use Microsoft Publisher in general and adding a new

skill set with cards and gift tags makesthis class even more

valuable. I have written several blogs over the last months about

theLocal library systems of Harris County and Fort Bend County

holding free classes which areaimed at improving resident’s skill

sets. As I have said in the past I think these are very important

endeavors being taken by the library systems.

Free Microsoft Excel Class at Library in Katy Texas

The Maud’s Mark Public Library which is part of the Harris County Library system will hold Microsoft Excel classes on both Tuesday November 15, 2011 and Tuesday November 29, 2011. Maud’s Marks Library is located at 1815 Westgreen Boulevard Katy Texas. These classes have very limited size capability and all who want to attend should register as early as possible. These classes are also very popular. Call the Library at 281-492-8592 to register as registration started on November 1, 2011.

The emphasis will be on Excel basics on how to use the program and the prerequisites are basic keyboarding and mouse skills.

Personally, I really like the direction the Public Library systems in either Fort Bend County or Harris County are taking by offering free useful classes to the public. If you want to learn how to use Excel then this is the class to attend. I have been using Excel for many years and there are numerous practical uses for this program.
