Exercise classes in Katy Texas

Do you need to start a new exercise program or continue your current program but want to add something new? There are two classes being held this coming week at Mary Jo Peckham Community Center in Katy Texas (Old Katy) that might be of interest. The Community Center is located at 5597 Gardenia Lane, Katy Texas.

Monday February 6, 2012 a Water Aerobics class will be held starting at 9:05 A. M. The class is my favorite price of FREE but attendees have to have a membership card. Please call 281-391-4482 to find out about the membership card.

Tuesday February 7, 2012 a Yoga class will teach participants how to relax and the benefits of doing Yoga on a regular basis. The class is being held from 9:30 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. I believe this class requires a membership card but I am unsure if there is a charge.

These are excellent examples of the types of programs available to residents of the Katy area.

Professional Water Ski Competition in Katy Texas

The Lakes of Katy is hosting the first, which is hoped to be an annual event, competitive slalom and jump ski competition of October 14 and October 15, 2011. The Lakes of Katy South Lake are located at Pitts Road and Morton Ranch road. The competition is scheduled for Friday from 8 A.M. to 2:45 P.M. and Saturday from 8:45 A.M. till 9:30 P.M. The general admission is $20.00 per car.

The purse of $30,000 is attracting many of the best water ski slalom and water ski jumpers in the world to be competing at this competition. The Lakes of Katy is a 6 year old neighborhood which is surrounded by manmade lakes. Supposedly, per the promoters, The Lakes of Katy have some of the best in the world water ski conditions. Organizers are expecting crowds each day of near 5,000 people. The main sponsor for the competition is Eagle Sports.

The Lakes of Katy is a gated community. I drove out to take a look a few days ago and I am not sure about where everyone is going to park their cars to attend the competition. I would recommend that anyone attending this event go early in the morning.
