About Lakeway's Lake Travis

I know where I'll probably be this Saturday, January 7, 2012!!

Since the Lake Travis Football team won their 5th straight state Championship, the Lake Travis Girls' Volleyball team won their second in a row State Championship, the Boys Golf Team won State Champion, the Girls' Golf Team were the runner-up, the Lake Travis Tennis Team were state runner-up, in addition to the State Finalist Lake Travis Cavalier March Band and 2011 National Merit Scholarship Program Honorees... the city is having a Parade of Champions for the Red and Black!!

WOW! That's a lot of excellence in such a great school district! I'm honored to be a part of this Lake Travis community and look forward to my kids attending the Lake Travis schools.

The actual Parade of Champions starts at 5pm. Prior to that, Elmo will be at the Learning Express Toys from 4-5pm and there will also be live music at the Hill Country Galleria Amphitheater. Sounds like a fun time for all ages!

For those of us who were for the Lake Travis School Bond, celebration time is here. The $158M LTISD Bond passed with a 57%:43% majority! Thank you LTISD citizens.

Roughly 2,200 votes were cast early with about 4,100 on the day - the majority of the latter voting 53% against the Bond.

The Bond will increase local taxes by almost 10 cents per thousand dollar value which will impact the average $400,000 area home's tax bill by just under $300 per year.

That is a great turn out Lakeway! Thank you for your vote and, supporting the LTISD schools. Now hold on to your seats!

For all my Lake Travis friends... the 2011 Lake Travis ISD Bond is coming up. There is a community meeting on October 5th at Lake Travis High School at 6 PM - worth your time. It's an important issue for the future of the Lake Travis area. Even if your children are grown...like mine, this will impact our quality of life for years to come. Lake Travis is an exemplary district and area. Let's keep it going...learn about our future. I'm voting YES, hope you do too!

The City of Lakeway's Lake Travis Community Library is hosting its own 2011 Dancing with the Stars Gala at the World of Tennis on Sunday, October 2, 2011 at 6:30pm.

This dance competition will feature several different styles of dancing, so it should be entertaining. What do you get for your $100 per person? You get Dinner, a Silent Auction, Dancing, Entertainment, and a Cash bar!
