Driving in an area that has been evolving steadily over the past thirty years gives us a chance to really enjoy the changes.
In the early ages the 28 mile trip to the Tomball area was a pleasant journey out from Houston. The pretty forested areas were interspersed with pastures and horse properties. The daily trips were via two lane mostly blacktopped roads. As people began to discover the well kept secrets of the country, the area grew and expanded into the Pinehurst and Magnolia townships.
Today Magnolia has grown from one elementary, Jr, and High school to several of each. There are shops lining the now four lane roads and there are subdivisions expanding the population dramatically. All the charm of small towns still exist but the bonuses of having conveniences and ease of travel make this area a well sought after place to live.
The developers have carefully carved the homesites out of the forests and left the beauty of nature for all to enjoy. From mobile and modest to absolute mansions there are places for the masses to call home. There are now several master planned communities complete with golf courses and lakes. Lately a couple of equestrian neighborhoods have been added to allow horse lovers to share the trails and care for their animals.
Occasionally the old fashioned horse farms and ranches can be found, and there are even some longhorns, sheep and goats being raised in the area.
Road side stands with fresh veges and fruits are becoming more common to be enjoyed as you drive through the area. The community has Saturday specialties year round.
Right now for the next few weeks there is the opportunity to participate in the Renaissance Festival. This has been growing north of Magnolia for many years. It is totally unique in that the magic of that time gone by is simulated on the forest floor. There are jousting expeditions, people dressed in period costumes, and incredible period food such as specially prepared turkey legs to be purchased by participants in this delightfully different festival.
The weather the last few weeks has been perfect for a walk in the woods. This might be a treat you owe yourself and it would also give you a chance to get to know a little more about the general wooded sections of the Northwest Houston area. Beware though! You may find that you prefer to stay out away from the maddening crowds.

Although I did not know it at the time,my introduction into Real Estate in the late 1970s opened doors that I never would have found on my own.
One blessing in particular came in the form of eye surgery for my middle son. He had an eye that traveled as he attempted to focus on any one thing. This created a vision problem that was not getting any better as he aged. With the vision problems also came anger. He did not know that he was angry, or why, but his behavior showed that he WAS angry. Not being able to see must be annoying.
In seeking some relief from the obvious problems, we sought therapy in the form of horseback riding. For a small five year old child to be able to control a huge beast was therapeutic. We had also gotten a medical professional in to the mix. The Dr. had put the child in glasses the thickness of coke bottles.
Having to wear the glasses added to the anger factor, but they were obviously necessary. Right?
Horseback riding was the high point of our weeks activities. It was a priviledge we would not have had except for having been introduced to it through one of our clients. Ah! The wonderful world of Real Estate.
It did not take long for our horseback instructor to pick up on the anger factor. As I sat blissfully watching my
three sons ride one afternoon, one of the teachers called me over. He said “ Have you had that boys eyes tested?” I looked at him incredulously. My thought was “Why No! I just went to the five and dime store and got those extreme glasses....!” Before I could smart off, the teacher said “watch this!” “Hey Nucklehead,” (this was a term of endearment between teacher and student.) “Run that pattern again, the one you just did.” The young horseman ambled through the drill. “Now take off your glasses and run it again. The glasses were shed without ceremony and the pattern was run flawlessly. The teacher looked at me and said “Sugar, those glasses are too strong! The boy cannot see with them.”
A few days later back at the doctor, the problem was not found. This time instead of just buying the opinion and continuing down the anger trail, I decided we needed to see a specialist.
One of the agents in the office where I worked was a doctors wife. She had heard me telling the horse analysis story to another agent. As it happened, she personally knew a doctor who specialized in childrens' eye surgery. She got an appointment for us without the usual long wait. The assessment indicated that the shortening of a muscle could correct the problem. Correct it and correct it quickly? It seemed worth a try!
We had the surgery. The “child” is now 37 years old, still functioning completely without glasses. What a wonderful world of vision networking in the Real Estate world opened for us.

SOLD **30711 Roadie Pass, Magnolia, TX**. This great little house was in supurb condition and is now sold. It was diamond in the rough, just waiting for the right buyer.
Luckily, I was able to negotiate successfully so it was a win-win situation for all parties.
Here is a shot of the interior. There weren't even any holes in the walls from pictures. The house was so new that the previous owner had not had time to decorate like she wanted.
When you are ready to sell your Tomball, Magnolia or Houston home, give me a call.
