The once a month Brown Bag Lectures series provide an insight into historical Rockwall. You may missed this series but it is not too late, just show up at the next brown bag lunch for a delightful glimpse into Rockwall's past. Brown Bag Lectures
The Rockwall County Historical Foundation, in conjunction with the Rockwall County Historical Commission, presents the Brown Bag Lecture Series for 2012. The Brown Bag Lecture Series is free and open to the public. All programs are from noon until 1 p.m. in the second floor courtroom at the historical courthouse in downtown Rockwall. Guests are invited to bring a lunch to enjoy as they listen to programs that address topics related to Rockwall history.

Museum Memorabilia
Hear the stories behind some unique acquisitions on display at the museum. Did you know that the USS Rockwall (APA-230) was named after Rockwall and her service in World War II earned one battle star.

A Walk Down Main Street
This program will focus on Rockwall as one of the state’s Main Street cities and will include an overview of downtown businesses, architecture and social life from the late 1800s through the 1970s. Hear the plans for continued preservation of the downtown area.

Foxchase Pavilion can be reserved at the City of Rockwall. Plan and reserve your party or event for as many as 50 people. Reservations can be made as much as six months in advance. Rentals can be made ONLY by residents of the City of Rockwall.

Rental Periods:

• 6:00 AM - 12:00 PM
• 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM
• 5:00 PM - 11:00 PM
• Pavilion Rentals = $25.00 per period
• Available any day of week

The City of Rockwall has many parks and seven Pavilions which can be rented for private events. Watch for future Spotlight on Rockwall Parks or visit The City of Rockwall Parks & Recreation Department for more information.

It's Leap Year! We Have An Extra Day This Year!

Today is an extra day in 2012! An entire extra day! What will you do with your day? Will it be any different than every other day in 2012?

February is way too short anyway and I am always scrambling to get everything done. Thinking about it, this day will likely not be much different than any other day, but I can dream, can't I?

Here's my dream! I am always wishing for a secret day! A day that no one else knows about. A day I can do anything I want to do and not get behind because of taking a day out of my always busy schedule.

What could I do? What would I do with my secret day? It's only a day, not long enough to go away for a trip or organize my home and office to perfection. I could......

• Watch an early morning sunrise rather than be sitting at my computer in the wee hours of the AM.
• Read a book all day long in my cozy jammies with a box of chocolate covered cherries by my side.
• Spend a day at the movies seeing all the movies I missed last year.
• Shop for a dress that would make me look tall and thin to wear to my Granddaughter's wedding?
• Gather up my four grandchildren and have a play day like we used to when they were very young. They are growing up too fast.
• Write a dozen blog posts and watch the sunset.
• Spend time working on the book I started.

It's only a day! Not long enough to change my world but I can dream of a secret day in which I could do anything I wanted to do with no restrictions.

Here's what I will do today! Here's my real world day!

• Work on two short sales.
• Work through repair request on up coming closing.
• Finish processing the new listing from yesterday.
• Phone appointment with an ActiveRain member to discuss setting up a new WordPress site for me & SEO stuff.
• Send properties and area information to a new client from yesterday.
• Work on taxes. Ugh!
• Write blog posts, read AR member posts & comment.
• Meet with my assistant to plan March schedule.
• Whatever else pops into my day.

Here's the main thing I will do today! Be very thankful for the day and for all the blessings I have, for all the special people in my life, for my business and for living and working in beautiful Rockwall, Texas on Lake Ray Hubbard.

Yes, it WILL be a good day in Rockwall, Texas!
