Residential rental activity was heavy for November. While San Antonio still has many rental properties vacant @ 701, 193 were rented during November. The high & low rentals were:

Where did you spend your Thanksgiving holiday?

Where did you (Kingwood TX) spend your Thanksgiving holiday? I left last Wednesday for the Hill Country Hyatt in San Antonio. If you are looking for a quiet, family friendly, escape, the Hill Country Hyatt in San Antonio TX may be the place you need to visit. It is also located only 5 minutes from San Antonio Sea World and about 15 minutes from the San Antonio River Walk. One of my favorite restraunts I had to visit while in the area was La Fogota. For authentic Mexican food, this needs to be at the top of your list when you visit San Antonio. Make sure you call ahead for seating as it can get crowded. The great thing about San Antonio is only about a 3.5 hour car ride for me. It is one of my top destinations when traveling in Texas. Did you have an interesting place you traveled to for the Thanksgiving holidays? I enjoy traveling outside of my real estate business, and I am always looking for new places and experiences. Thinking about renting your house out that hasn't sold?

A very interesting article was published in San Antonio's Real Estate section of the San Antonio Express-Newspaper. The article titled "A good time to Rent" discusses the rental rate being up (4.9% by the end of September) and homeowners deciding to rent their homes out when the challenge of selling it becomes too much.

A big draw to the rental scene has to do with military folks being transferred to Fort Sam. Rentals have always been popular in the Alamo city around the northeast section of San Antonio as well as surrounding cities, Schertz, Cibolo, Converse and New Braunfels. An easy commute for military folks to Randolph Air Force Base and Fort Sam is ideally what they look for when faced with change of station papers.

Interestingly enough, in August and September of this year the number of rented homes jumped 8.6% when compared to August and September of 2007 (according to SABOR).

Wildhorse is a marvelous community located at Braun & 1604 (right outside the loop). Wildhorse is a DR Horton Community that is on it's last phase of development with homes from the 160's.

Wildhorse is conveniently located just minutes from La Cantera (PF Changs China Bistro, Tiffany's, Nordstrom's) and the newest shopping center on the other side of the neighborhood at 1604 & Culebra known as the "Shops at Culebra".

Wildhorse is a fantastic family neighborhood with an elementary school on the main street of the neighborhood http://www.nisd.net/krueger/ , two swimming pools a gazebo, walking trails, picnic area, basketball area and a daycare. All within walking distance.

San Antonio Housing October '08

For the month of October, the San Antonio Board of Realtors shows a 6% increase in the price of homes as compared to one year ago, evidence of the fact that our local market has held strong in relation to other areas of the country. Homes have stayed on the market longer by an average of 13 days. And we had a lower volume of sales compared to one year ago, but only by 149 sales. Below is a partial MLS Report for October 2008 for single family residential homes:
