Was this blog an Omen? You're Being Watched!

CARL & CEIL WINTERS Canyon Lake/New Braunfels /San Antonio: Inspector in New Braunfels, TX

On 6/6/2011 I put out this blog: Warning....You're Being Watched!

This is a follow-up to my original blog. Unfortunately we were hit during the night by thieves.

Ceil said she heard the dogs barking, especially Brutus with his big gruff bark. Brutus is my black lab. She said it wasn't his normal bark, she awakened me since I can sleep through most anything, I didn't hear the barking until she woke me. I did get up and shined my light out the bedroom window into the back yard, but didn't see anything. I told Brutus to hush and he did. I told Ceil it was just some deer. All the neighborhood dogs were also barking. With the drought the deer are coming in closer looking for food an water. Ceil said she thought she heard someone running when I opened the window but I told her it was probably the deer. WRONG, WRONG, WRONG I should have listened to Brutus and Ceil.

Brutus...My Tracker

Our neighbors' car was hit and my Tracker that was parked in the front driveway of the house. Dummy me, I shined my light into the backyard. In the morning both myself and my neighbor realized that our cars had been hit and pilfred by thieves. The sheriff said they had been tracking four individuals that have been looking for unlocked vehicles so they could do a quick grab and run. Yes, I forgot and left my Tracker unlocked, something I never do. They didn't get very much a few flashlights, rummaged the glove compartment and took some change. They did leave some hand and finger prints on my work truck window (thankfully my work truck was locked).

My suggestions: Continue with your neighborhood watch. If your dog barks, pay attention, thank you Brutus. Always lock your vehicle.

If anyone lives between the DQ at Startzville and Cranes Mill be on the look out for thieves in the night.

Practice good water safety at Canyon Lake Texas this summer

CARL & CEIL WINTERS Canyon Lake/New Braunfels /San Antonio: Inspector in New Braunfels, TX

Living at Canyon Lake Texas we have summer storms blow up quickly. The practice of water safety is very important when a wind, rain, and lightening storm comes up and your out on the lake. We had a storm that came in last night out of the blue; it was gone as fast as it appeared.

1. Try to get to dry land as soon as possible.

2. Check the weather

3. Have an EXIT plan

What causes lightning?

It helps to explain why thunderstorms are more common in the summer.

The Answer from Lightning

*From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

*Lightning is an atmospheric discharge of electricity accompanied by thunder, which typically occurs during thunderstorms, and sometimes during volcanic eruptions or dust storms.

In the atmospheric electrical discharge, a leader of a bolt of lightning can travel at speeds of 60,000 m/s (130,000 mph), and can reach temperatures approaching 30,000 °C (54,000 °F), hot enough to fuse silica sand into glass channels known as fulgurites which are normally hollow and can extend some distance into the ground.

There are nearly 16 million lightning storms in the world every year.

(Sorry the lightening didn't show up it was moving too fast) You may want to consider a home house surge protector; we just purchased one. Another way to protect your home.
