TRADER JOES COMING TO THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS

Exciting things continue to happen here in The Woodlands, Texas. Construction is well under way at the Woodlands Crossing Shopping Center in the Village of Indian Springs! Trader Joe's will open in our market sometime this spring of 2012!

The California based unique-style grocery store will be the first in the Houston area! Those of us in The Woodlands couldn't be happier! As you can see from these pictures that I took today, the construction on the store is moving along nicely.

The Woodlands Crossing Shopping Center is located at the corner of Woodlands Parkway and Kuykendahl on the Southeast corner. The 13,500 square feet space is right next to Pets Mart, and the center is owned by Realm Realty.

This type of store will be well received in our market. They have a distinct, unique style including all sorts of imported goods, organic foods and all-natural foods. With our fitness-minded community, this is a great fit.

Exciting news for The Woodlands area Foodies is that the first Trader Joes in Texas will be opening Spring of 2012 in The Woodlands Crossing shopping center located at 10868 Kuykendahl The Woodlands, TX 77381.

As of 1/11/2012 is it now officially listed on the Trader Joes web site.

Many of you may say "so what it's just another grocery store, boring!" Actually Trader Joes is an "experience". People outside of where Trader Joes are located have for years taken vacation trips with an extra suitcase just to go to Trader Joes and stock up on items that they could not get at their local store or get at such a substantial savings since it was less expensive to transport the goods across country.

The reputation for Trader Joes to provide natural, healthy, or organic staples not available at area stores has always resulted in strong almost cult like following. I mean everyone wants to eat healthy but many times it's so expensive you have to make some difficult choices. To get an idea of what Trader Joes has to offer just check out the latest newsletter the Fearless Flier.

Interest in having a Trader Joes is so strong that it even has it's own independent Facebook page aptly named Bring a Trader Joes to the Woodlands, Texas. Which started out about two years ago and fans have shared hope and news about the opening or potential for the whole time.

Now several local store chains have recently been upgrading their product offerings to affordable yet healthy products however when Trader Joes Hit's town you can bet it will be an event.

Ever since it's founding in 1958 under the name of Proto Markets it's been a unique shopping experience. My wife and I have been a fan of Trader Joes when I lived in Glendale, Arizona in the early '90s when Trader Joes opened their first store outside of California and we were hooked ever since.

Well my wife and I were quite excited to hear so we celebrated with some Two Buck Chuck that we'd "imported" on out Last Trip to a Trader Joes. Now we can soon buy a bottle right here in the Woodlands!

TOUR THE WOODLANDS ~ VILLAGE OF INDIAN SPRINGS

As I continue the series “Welcome to The Woodlands”, our next stop is the Village of Indian Springs. Indian Springs is located along the northern border of Montgomery County. The Village is known as the “hilly” section of The Woodlands. Fitness enthusiasts love to run and bike the hills throughout this area.

The homes along the Spring Creek and the George Mitchell Preserve offer a unique topography and landscaping options. These homes are highly sought after as many of them enjoy the privacy of a wooded forest reserve at the back of the property. There are homes from the 100’s to the million dollar plus range!

The highly acclaimed private school, The John Cooper School is found right in the heart of Indian Springs. This K-12 college preparatory school is well-known around the country as a premier school. Of course the Conroe ISD offers exceptional public school education in this area as well.

The Village is also the first location for The Woodlands Hindu Temple. The India Springs Shopping Center is one of the busiest and most popular shopping centers in The Woodlands. Home of one of our wonderful H.E.B. stores along with some top-notch boutiques and restaurants, you will want to stop by for a visit.

With the many parks and trails winding through Indian Springs add to the beauty and functionality of this area of The Woodlands.

I had eaten at the 1960 location many times and was always impressed. The new location did not disappoint either.

Conveniently located in the Village of Indian Springs near Starbucks and 24 Hour Fitness, Via Emilia is a great option for those residents who live in the West end of The Woodlands.

Excellent food and wonderful service greeted us as usual. Also, the prices are very nice!
