Lake Conroe Sailing Associations Thursday night races are continuing despite the hot temperatures and the drought. Typically in the summer our winds die down and lots of races get canceled due to lack of wind. Not so this year! It has been an odd year we have had very little rain but lots of wind. I am from Kansas and this year feels like Kansas on steroids.

Due to the intense heat we are now starting the races at 7:00 rather than 6:00. At this point most people can still get their boats out for the Thursday night races but if this drought continues that might not be the case. Lake Conroe is an alternate water supply for Houston and I hear that Lake Houston is so dry they are going to have to start taking water from Lake Conroe.

As long as we can race we plan on being out there; so if interested the start is at the lighthouse at 7:00. Again trying to find a positive out of our drought we do have a lot of wind so consider coming out to join us on Thursday nights. You don't have to own a boat to participate people are always looking for crew. I help on the committee boat and my husband crews. The drought we are experiencing is INCREDIBLE!! I have lived in Kansas, Colorado and North Carolina and have never experience a drought like the one we are experiencing. PRAY FOR RAIN!!

The wind is the good news but the bad news is that we are not experiencing any rain.  We have lived here for almost 15 years and this is the driest we have ever seen our area.  My sister lives in the Denver area and for some odd reason they seem to be getting all the rain.  Typically at this time of the year they look brown and dull and we look green and lush but that is not the case this year.  Again trying to find a positive out of our drought we do have a lot of wind so consider coming out to join us on Thursday nights.  You don't have to own a boat to participate people are always looking for crew.  I help on the committee boat and my husband crews.  For more information visit Lake Conroe Sailing Associations website.

This last Saturday was the end of our sailboat racing season for Lake Conroe Sailing Association.  As you can tell from the slide show we ended the season with LOTS of wind!  It was a fun race! 

If you would like more information about Lake Conroe Sailing Association please visit the LCSA website.  You don't have to own a boat to belong.  We do have a sailboat but keep it on the other side of the lake so for these races my husband crews and I help on the committee boat.

This coming Saturday we have our annual meeting and wine tasting to plan for next year. If you would like more information about our sailing club this would be a good time to attend.

CURE MY BACON ~ WILLIS, TX ~ OCTOBER 23, 2010

Danielle Bacon is a precious 12 year old girl with a rare brain tumor that is severely affecting her life. Danielle is from Willis, Texas which is about 10 minutes north of The Woodlands.

I worked alongside her father Paul Bacon for awhile in real estate. Paul and Angie are devoted parents who are struggling to deal with the reality of this as well as the incredible financial burden.

On Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Moran Ranch in Willis, there will be a full day of activities to bring folks out in support of Danielle and her family.

Here is the schedule of events:

9:00 - 12:00 (Pre-Registration at 8:00 am) Fun Run/Family Walk. The entry cost for the run will be a $20 donation and that includes a t-shirt that will be given to everyone that participates on the run.

3:00 - 5:00There will be a Festival for the whole family with plenty of activities such as a petting zoo, hay rides, face painting and a Moonwalk! There will be snow cones, popcorn and cotton candy for everyone to enjoy.

5:00 - 6:00 Dinner will be served (BBQ)

6:00 - 7:00 There will be a live auction that will take place after dinner with BIG ticket items up for grabs.

To get to Moran Ranch:

Take I-45 North to FM 1097 and go right (east). The very first turn in to the right is Moran Ranch. Follow the dirt road all the way to the ranch house and follow the signs for parking.

I have been trying to get a decent moon shot for a couple years now.  I guess I never thought of getting the dusk shot until it appeared during a sail boat race at Lake Conroe.
