Tony & Darcy Cannon - The C Team: Real Estate Agent in Cedar City, UT

Driving around Cedar City, we noticed a couple of sights that we just wanted to share with everyone. The first is taken from the Coal Creek Walking Trail. This is a walking trail that goes along Highway 14 into the mouth of Cedar Canyon. The photo is taken from behind the Vetrans Memorial park looking up Coal Creek towards the mouth of Cedar Canyon:The C Team Real Estate Photograph

The next photo is a photo of a Cedar of Lebanon Tree, planted in the Veterans Memorial Park:

Utah Association of Realtors Convention....

Tony & Darcy Cannon - The C Team: Real Estate Agent in Cedar City, UT

Next week is the UAR convention at the Zermot Resort in beautiful Midway, Utah. The real events for the rank and file Realtors is next Tuesday and Wednesday. There promises to be some great classes for us to learn. Those unfamiliar with Midway, it is between Park City and Heber City, it is nestled up to the mountains and is absolutely gorgeous!

There is a lot information and there is still time to register, although you will have missed out on the early registration discount. It runs October 5-8 with classes the 6-7th and other meetings on the 5th then again on the 8th. Darcy and I are both looking forward to going this year. Darcy went last year as she is on the Iron County Board of Directors. This will be my first time at the convention so I am really excited! I hope to see some of my Utah 'Rain friends there!

First Storm of the Season Revisited..............

Tony & Darcy Cannon - The C Team: Real Estate Agent in Cedar City, UT

One thing that you can always say about the weather, you have a 50% chance of being wrong! Our first major storm of the Autumn Season didn't hit us with the snow that I thought that it would. I guess that if I were better at forecasting the weather, I would do that for a living! We had a beautiful, but chilly day. The skies were bright blue and the winds had a crispness to them that we haven't felt in months, but the snow has stayed away for now anyway.

Now that I have said that, I will probably awaken to snow on the ground in the morning! I will say this, it hit Northern Utah pretty hard, but other than chilly winds, seems to have missed us. That is alright, the air is cool, clear and crisp and it is a beautiful time to visit Scenic Southern Utah! Come on up, you may just end up staying!

Technology in Real Estate........

Tony & Darcy Cannon - The C Team: Real Estate Agent in Cedar City, UT

I was reading a great title for a blog on Real Town, it was called "If You're Not Using Technology, You're Not In The Game," by Ana Bui. I thought that was one of the best titles that I have seen in a couple of days. Ana went on to talk about Docusign, which I am sure is a great product. The title of her blog however got me to thinking, how resistant some agents are to utilizing technology.

I will admit, that I like to write things down on a paper Franklin Day Planner. I have found that I remember things much better if I write them down. It is something that I need to come up with a way to help me remember better on the computer and PDA's.

One of the great things about our broker is that he is really great about finding good training for us. We have had several training sessions with different instructors about the use of technology. I have always thought that technology was where it was at, and honestly never having been a Realtor when the MLS Books were the main tool of the trade, I have a hard time imagining doing business that way.

I am inspired by one of the Agents in our office. She has been one of the top producing agents in our market for over 20 years. She is also one of the most fearless agents that I have ever seen. When she sees something that works, she embraces it to the best of her ability! The same with technology, she may not be completely comfortable with it, but she does use it to the best of her ability. She is a member of Active Rain, and because I didn't ask her permission, I will not use her name in this blog.

She is really a role model as to being quick to take a new direction and make it work for her. I am sure that when she started in Real Estate and even 15 years ago, she would have never thought that blogging or having a website would be important to her overall success in Real Estate. But now she blogs, she has a web site, and is quick to impliment new ideas, if she doesn't understand, she isn't afraid to ask for someome to help her understand at least how to use it in her business.

I have mentioned in blogs and comments to blogs, of a training that we had a little over a year ago, where were challenged to begin a blog. Darcy and I were already blogging here on Active Rain and in a couple of other places. What amazes me is how few of the Realtors in our office took that challenge. The agent that I mentioned in the earlier paragraphs did, but very few others have, even younger agents, those in their 20's and early 30's. I don't get it!

I understand that technology is just one of many tools to help us succeed. Right now, I don't know if one could be successful by relying solely on technology. I do know that it is a great tool to assist in the other areas of Real Estate. Especially helping make communication and our contact management much more efficient and easier to stay on top of! That isn't even getting in to marketing properties to obtain the most exposure for buyers possible! Now we use a Power Point as part of our Listing presentation, as well as for the MLS to show sellers why we need to price where we suggest their home should be priced.

Anyway, enough of my rant! I do believe that if you're not embracing technology, you will not be in the game for the long haul!
