For the folks that have stopped by my blog here at at Lakepowellrealty and joked around about photos off my back porch... here you go!
Yesterday I walked out of my driveway to the street and shot the following three photos. These are all from the corner of my driveway looking basically north-ish. There was a storm starting to build which arrived today. It has been raining, well sprinkling, all day which is great news! With only 4 to 8 inches of rainfall a year, rain is good.
Looking North West to the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument
The View North East toward Lake Powell with Big Water School on the right hand side
Looking almost due North to the Monument and over Wahweap
And There You Have It - Views from a Big Water Utah Porch!

It took a few days to get these photos up - but here they are
The first on is on Highway 389 in Arizona, just outside of the Paiute Reservation, between Hurricane and Fredonia.
This one is on Highway 89 between Kanab and Big Water at the turn off to the Old Paria Movie Set. The set was burned down a few years ago and currently there is a fund raiser going on to have it rebuilt. I took this photo a couple of months ago, but on the way home from the training, got the same view, so I decided to repost it.
This photo is also at the Old Paria Movie Set Turn off looking back toward the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument. You can see the different levels "Staircase" of mountains going back toward the monument.

I took pictures of the rocks at the airport. I think the one I like the best was the Septarian Nodule. They say it is found in southern Utah. 150 million years water covered parts of southern utah. Volcanic eruptions cause sea life and sediment to be trap in mud balls. The mud balls were then exposed to the sun when the water receded. This caused them to crack. Whenthe water returned dissolved sea life turned in calcite that settled into the cracks causing this type of formation. Rockhounds can find them in Kanab, Utah.

I love the contast in the stone.

The Picasso Marble can be found in this picture it is the small heart above, the black and brown bear shape on the back left, and the small bear shaped rock on the right.
The yellew rock in the middle is Honeycomb Calcite also found in Utah.

We will have a "bounce house" for the kids, balloons, lots of food and drinks, a raffle, clowns and other fun stuff. A good time to come visit your neighbors and find out what's going on in the community and, of course, chat about real estate!
