It took a few days to get these photos up - but here they are
The first on is on Highway 389 in Arizona, just outside of the Paiute Reservation, between Hurricane and Fredonia.
This one is on Highway 89 between Kanab and Big Water at the turn off to the Old Paria Movie Set. The set was burned down a few years ago and currently there is a fund raiser going on to have it rebuilt. I took this photo a couple of months ago, but on the way home from the training, got the same view, so I decided to repost it.
This photo is also at the Old Paria Movie Set Turn off looking back toward the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument. You can see the different levels "Staircase" of mountains going back toward the monument.

I took pictures of the rocks at the airport. I think the one I like the best was the Septarian Nodule. They say it is found in southern Utah. 150 million years water covered parts of southern utah. Volcanic eruptions cause sea life and sediment to be trap in mud balls. The mud balls were then exposed to the sun when the water receded. This caused them to crack. Whenthe water returned dissolved sea life turned in calcite that settled into the cracks causing this type of formation. Rockhounds can find them in Kanab, Utah.

I love the contast in the stone.

The Picasso Marble can be found in this picture it is the small heart above, the black and brown bear shape on the back left, and the small bear shaped rock on the right.
The yellew rock in the middle is Honeycomb Calcite also found in Utah.

ERA is a huge Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) research supporter nationwide. ERA's program Home in on a Cure has been very successful since 1997 raising over 30 million dollars.
ERA Utah Properties, at 7 West Center in Kanab, Utah on May 5th is hosting our annual "Day in May" to raise funds for MDA.
We will have a "bounce house" for the kids, balloons, lots of food and drinks, a raffle, clowns and other fun stuff. A good time to come visit your neighbors and find out what's going on in the community and, of course, chat about real estate!

For the past 30 some odd years Big Water, Utah, has been celebrating Bird Day. For many years Bird Day was a Utah holiday and when it was shelved Big Water community kept it up. Bird Day started as a way to celebrate the seagulls eating the crickets that saved the crops of the Mormon Pioneers. This year Bird Day was held April 26th.
Bird Day is a fun filled, old fashioned, carnival day for the kids of all ages. There were sack races, balloon tosses, 3-legged races, an art contest, a bake off, the ever popular treasure hunt and scavenger hunt, and of course, the EGG toss. Guessing the amount of eggs and candy in the baskets and voting on “Bird Awards” were two of the most popular activities. There were lots of folks entered in the arm wrestling and nail hammering contests as well.
Many thanks to the local folks who have worked for so many years to keep Bird Day something to look forward to each year in Big Water.
So the adults had fun with this one as well as the little kids. Egg Races. Put a raw egg in a spoon, run the length of the parking lot and don't drop the egg. Yeah!
Big kids got three nails and one small hammer, ladies got two nails and one small hammer, little guys got one nail and one LARGE hammer for the Nail Hammering Contest.
Ladies take arm wrestling pretty serious.
By the 6:30 p.m awards ceremony everyone looked like they had a wonderful, sun filled, fun day.
