http://localism.com/ut/counties/wayne_county/rss en-us <p>This past Saturday Darcy and I travelled to my Uncle&#39;s funeral.&nbsp; I blogged over a month ago about his passing.&nbsp; He had lived the last 20 years of his life in Australia.&nbsp; It was kind of surreal, normally when someone dies you have the funeral while the shock of their passing is still fresh.&nbsp; My Aunt, decided to bring my Uncle back to the small town where he was born and bury him along side his parents and other family members.&nbsp; </p><p>She decided that she would wait until the weather warmed up and the snow was mostly gone before having the graveside service.&nbsp; Hence the time between his passing and the burial.&nbsp; It gave time for things to settle, the sting of the loss is still there just not as sharp.</p><p>The town where my Uncles and Father were raised is a small town in Southern Utah called Torrey.&nbsp; It is just outside of Capitol Reef National Park, it is my second home regardless of where I am living.&nbsp; It is, in my humble opinion, the most beautiful place that I have ever been.</p><p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <img src="http://library.byways.org/display.php/TorreySchoolhouse_z3.jpg?ID=4312" height="326" alt="Torrey&#39;s Historic Old Schoolhouse and Church" width="500" /></p><p>My Grandmothers home was just through the lot, behind and a little to the right of the old school house.&nbsp; The beauty of the surroundings and the flood of memories of a childhood spent running, and hiking with my dad and my Uncles left me thinking.&nbsp; How often we get too busy to stop and enjoy what we are doing and who we are doing it with.&nbsp; </p><p>We spend a lot of time working, (as we should), but do we really enjoy ourselves while doing it.&nbsp; When it comes our time to be eulogized, will they say this was a person who enjoyed life, or will they say that this person died full of life, because he never lived a day while he was alive.&nbsp; I am lucky, admitting my bias, I will say that I have the greatest family on earth!&nbsp;&nbsp; I hope that I can show them that I know that!</p><p>I guess what I am trying to say is: it&#39;s great to make a good living, just don&#39;t forget to live in the process of making that living!&nbsp; Have a great week!&nbsp; Here are a couple more photos of the area around Torrey.</p><p>This one is west of town about 5 miles.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <a href="http://www.pbase.com/tommears/maob_utah"><img src="http://k43.pbase.com/u12/tommears/upload/41538012.CRW_3366.jpg" border="0" height="600" alt="Near Torrey, UT" width="429" /></a></p><p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; </p><p>This is East of Town just&nbsp;after the road turns to enter Capitol Reef National Park:&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1040/947726392_a29d1f37f9.jpg?v=0" height="375" alt="" width="500" /></p><p>&nbsp;</p> Tony & Darcy Cannon - The C Team http://localism.com/neighbor/thecteam Mon, 21 Apr 2008 05:19:59 -0500 http://localism.com/blog/ut/torrey/posts/477517/Photographs-and-Memories 4fe14a965f43e1d1be90352f255164b1baa2d1d87b63c18e4c0afc023a796cf1
