Over the weekend I was able to get some new photos of the Station Park development (finally a near sunny day) and also get an update on anticipated timelines for some of the early openings.
Harmons continues to plan for a May opening. Based on construction to date, it certainly looks like that will be a realistic timeline. As you see from the photo, the main structure's walls are now well developed and with a good deal of the brick facia Harmon's stores are known for already in place. A good deal of interior work is also being completed as roofing has been put in place. Some of the interior concrete has also been poured. Harmons' construction crews are busy this year as they are working on both the Station Park and City Creek projects.
The Cinemark building is also taking shape in its location as the southern anchor to the complex. This location is anticpated to have 14 screens when completed. A June grand opening is currently planned. For residents of Farmington, Kaysville, Fruit Heights and Centerville, there is going to be much more convenient access to summer blockbuster movies.
The main Village Plaza component of the project is still slated for a spring/summer 2012 opening. To get a sense for what the project will look like upon completion, please see the artist rendition to the left. In the rendition you can get a better feel for the position of both the Harmons and Cinemark locations relative to the rest of the project. Also, if you look closely, you will see several of the tenants who have initiated intent to lease agreements. If you've driven by the project recently, you'll know that most of the east parking lot facility is already in place and the main roundabout is completed.
There should be some new tenant announcements coming up and I will be sure to report on them as soon as they are made available to the public. If you have any questions about the project, let me know and I will be sure to ask them the next time I meet with the project's coordinators.

I met recently with representatives of CenterCal (the retail developer for the project) to get an update on the status of the project and the timeline for the completion of the retail/commercial project located in Farmington. As has been reported previously, the construction of the large retailers' component (located on the eastern edge of the project) is underway with a Harmon's store as the anchor. This section of the project is expected to be completed by May, 2011. In that same time frame, the Cinemark multiplex is also expected to be open.
In addition to the Harmons grocery, other retailers targeted for that component of the complex include Best Buy, HomeGoods, Marshalls and Ross. There are projected to be 18 retail shops in this phase of the project. They will range in size from over 68,000 square feet (Harmons) to as small as 1,400 square feet (Sally Beauty). Several will be in the 20,000 to 45,000 square foot range.
The Cinemark Theater will anchor the Village Plaza component of the development. The project continues to be designed as a mixed use retail and office space concept. This phase of the project is targeted for a May, 2012 completion date and anticipates such stores as H&M (first location in Utah), Ann Taylor Loft, Sephora, North Face, Sanctuary Spa as well as several high end restaurants. This phase is targeting over 75 retail components as well a number of quick eating establishments (e.g. Panda Express, Wing Nuts, Cafe Rio, etc).
The project retains its 'transit oriented' theme by allowing convenient access and adjoining parking capacity to the FrontRunner station. Food and office space options are also strategically placed in the project to cater to both the commuters as well as the Village Plaza visitors.
You can now begin to identify several of the components of the project taking shape.
Click on the photo and you will get a snapshot with locators for the Harmons store, Cinemark Theater, and the main entrance roundabout. For reference, the photo above is shot looking to the south. The Harmon's store is currently coming out of the ground with site work continues on the Cinemark Theater footprint.
Here is a close up of the Harmon's structure looking toward the west.
Overall, it is good to see things progressing and I will be sure to continue to provide updates on the construction. Overall, the completion and opening of this project will be a much needed boost to the Farmington economy and its tax base.

Many residents of Farmington know that land preparation has been already done for the Station Park retail complex, however, the economy put a hold on the actual build out of the complex which was originally scheduled to open its first phase in the spring of 2010. However, now two of the major tenants for the new complex have initiated the construction of their buildings. Both Harmons Grocery and Cinemark Theaters began construction and expect to be open by May, 2011. The Harmons facility is estimated to be just under 69,000 square feet when finished and the Cinemark theater is currently slated to be a 14-screen multiplex that will have full digital capabilities.
The Harmons store will be the chain's first location in Davis County. These two buildings anchor the 400,000 square foot initial phase of the proposed 1,000,000 square foot Station Park complex. More tenants are expected to be publicly announced as we head into the fall with construction on those buildings following shortly thereafter.
The building of the Harmons store along with the Cinemark multiplex comes after the final land preparations (e.g. underground utilities, building pads, main entrance, etc) as well as the installation of the roundabout between the new complex and the FrontRunner rail station.
For those of us in Farmington who have been waiting for this project to move forward, being able to see actual buildings coming out of the ground is a welcome sight. The long term impact to the city's tax base and the likely positive impact to property values in the area will help Farmington to progress well into the next several decades.
