I have mentioned that in the Cedar City Real Estate Market there are several smaller cities that are extremely delightful little cities. Paragonah (pronounced Paragoonah) definately qualifies as one of these little gems. If you are really looking for a quaint, quiet place to live, Paragonah may just fit the bill. This town is approximately 4 miles North of Parowan and is still small enough that it doesn't have a school. What it does have is a nice variety of homes.
There are many styles of homes to be found in Paragonah, from Pioneer Homes, to new custom homes. Paragonah is next to the mountain, so seeing deer and other wildlife is pretty common. Homes don't generally stay too long on the Multiple Listing Service. There are currently 3 homes listed for sale in Paragonah ranging in price from $258,000 to $369,000. Most homes are on a minimum of a half acre lot. All in all, Paragonah is really a nice asset in the Cedar City Real Estate Market!
Market Update 12/28/2011: There are currently 3 homes listed for sale in the Multiple Listing Service. They range in price from $164,900 to $369,000. In the past 12 months there have been 9 homes sell. They ranged in price from $64,000 to $228,000. There are also 5 parcels of land for sale ranging from 5 to nearly 148 acres. This localism post isn't a business or and activity, it is a town, Paragonah. It is the Northern Most Town along Interstate 15 in Iron County. The Name is pronounced Paragoonah. It is about 20 miles north of Cedar City, and is a small, quaint area. It is 4 miles north of Parowan. I have always loved Paragonah, my Aunt and Uncle lived there when I was a child, and it was always fun to go and visit them.
The name Paragonah is a Native American term that means Water Good or Good Water. Interestlingly enough, Parowan, means Water Evil or bad. Parowan got it's name for the Little Salt Lake West of that town. Paragonah's name must come from the creeks that feed into the Little Salt Lake. It remains a small town, near the base of the Mountain.

One of the great things about living in the Iron County area is that there are several small towns that we work in besides Cedar City. One of them is the town of Paragonah, it is approximately 20 miles North of Cedar City and is honestly one of the jewels in Iron County. The name is pronounced "Paragoonah", which is derived from a Native American word meaning sweet or good water. This is a photograph to show just how picturesque the town is from Interstate 15. This photo was taken from atop a bridge crossing I15:

As you can see there are still several farms and ranches in and around Paragonah, but it sets in absolutely gorgeous surroundings. It is a very quaint, and beautiful small town.
