Seven days of excessive warmth, and one might expect to see a delay in autumnal signs. Nature appears to be running to a clock rather than a weather map.
The mountains of the Wasatch Front (remember from earlier instruction: the big mountains are to the east) are tinged with red. A landscape artist might resort to a pencil for rendition of the red, and in a few places a fine brush ~ but the changes are there. Soon it will be worth the glory of a trip up the canyons (this weekend is probably ideal) to observe the brilliance of the autumn colors in rugged settings.
Meanwhile in Historic Sandy neighborhood of Sandy UT our grapes are ripening apace. They usually arrive after the first frosts but this time have ripened well in sustained warmth. Concords and Thompsons are ready for the table in quantity.
By this time last year we had had out first snow in the valley. Today's temperature, rather warm, still allows short sleeves and shorts. While trees are changing, there is little evidence yet of leaves falling. Nights are definitely cooler.
The weather map for the US has us here in Sandy UT basking in perfect weather.

For a lot of this month (and before) I have been blogging on aspects of Sandy and its place in Utah. you have been introduced to civic happenings and a little of history of the place.
I live in Sandy (Historic Sandy is my neighborhood, a place of stories and beauty), great by choice or happenstance. I enjoy every bit of it.
I can tell you ever increasing things about Sandy; that would make you an armchair authority in time. It's now your turn to plan your visit.
You need to be here, to experience the magic. Come now to see colors change, in the city and in the canyons of the Wasatch Front. (You remember from earlier instruction "big mountains on the east side") Come a little later for the snow mantle. Be here at Christmas for the fairyland of lights and the music. Ski late and see the city into spring.
But why just visit. It is just as easy to plan to stay. And make Sandy UT your city, your family home. It is never to late for your next great adventure.
I can be your guide.

Excitement in the air.
Afternoon traffic has intensity and purpose - more than the usual number of trailers and motor homes on the road and suuee-ee-zing into gas stations with the hesitancy of having not been driven for a while.
An holiday is in the offing.
More than the usual number of shoppers in supermarkets - snack foods seem a necessity, but any food is fair game.
Even temperature have declined a little, promising a beautiful holiday weekend in Sandy UT. Perhaps Fall is not too far off.
I harp on local feelings, because that is where I shall be - some of us have to work. Two all-nighters will take care of a large part of my weekend. Not that I complain ~ I get to meet a lot of visitors from other parts as they visit my city (some even looking to relocate here).
A must see:
Sandy Museum (It's in Historic Sandy)
8744S 100E (off Center Street) Sandy UT 84070
Poke in and around the Museum location to see examples of early Sandy architecture. Historic homes have a plaque near the front door.

Utah State employees are returning to a five day work week (from a four day/week experiment). They start this next week with a four day week.

A happy holiday weekend to all.

I'm all for a challenge. It's rubber and road time. and there are others, equally insane, across the country, validating my instability of mind by joining me in this endeavor. And to think I have participated in several 30 day challenges before always ending with "never again" only to weaken with growing excitement.
With these challenges I learn a lot about people and lifestyles. With this dedication to Localism I expect to learn about places as well.
I promise you, come October 1, if you paint by the numbers and pay close attention, you will not only know heaps about Sandy UT, its environs, and inhabitants but you will become strangely desirous of visiting for a more intimate knowledge of the city that will become your "home away from home".
Terms to become familiar with (repeat often to increase familiarity)
Salt Lake County
Sandy City
Historic Sandy (where I live, hyper-local focus)
Midvale, Murray, Draper, South Jordan (minor surrounding cities added for emphasis and location)
Wasatch Front (our mountains, home of the greatest snow on earth, dry powder paradise.)
The Great Salt Lake, Lake Utah, Jordan River (decorative water features).

What a beautiful Spring day to work in my farm in Historic Sandy, UT. Mostly blue sky with high cloud, warmth and gentle breezes, enough to move wind chimes, adding melody to the peacefulness (Note to self :niche market opportunity ~ glass chimes to add higher notes to the metal and bamboo, for total area tranquility).
Houses of all shapes and sizes beg to be on your list seeking to be your home in this delightful area. of Sandy UT.
I like Historic Sandy. I live here; it is my area of choice in the Salt Lake Valley. The neighborhood is friendly; my neighbors are interested and interesting. You make friends here very easily. Modern amenities, and links to other parts of the Salt Lake Valley abound.
It is a great day, among many, to be out and about. Farming is productive and fun.
My reasons for choosing Historic Sandy, may very well be yours also. Just a phone call away at 801 824 3276, I would love to assist in your deliberations to make it your home.
