In several recent energy audits of older elementary schools in Utah we found out why we froze to death as a child sitting in those classrooms. No wonder we wore jackets while sitting at our desks.
Even before we started the huge blower door fans to depressurize the building we noticed how cold the entire windowed walls were. These schools are retrofitting and installing new triple pane energy efficient window systems. The results are outstanding - not only is the draftiness gone, but the windows are blocking out the chilling outside temperature. Two particular classrooms had "zero" insulation on the north side walls. The entire block wall was "blue" or cold.
In the thermal images - the blue is cold and red colors warm.

Energy Audits for Historical Buildings like the Jordan School District Administration Building in Sandy | Information gathered from any Utah energy audits in the Historic Areas of Sandy, Utah will be used to determine energy efficiency, retrofitting and weatherization projects using funds from the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grants (EECBG). Retrofitting projects will include air infiltration, energy efficient windows and doors, insulation levels, weather-stripping and caulking, and electric base loads.

Using its EECBG formula funding to retrofit and improve the energy efficiency of a number of it's municipal buildings that will result in substantial reduction in energy usage.
EECBG Formula grants can be used for energy efficiency and conservation programs and projects community wide, as well as renewable energy installations on local municipal buildings, city facilities, local city and county government buildings. EECBG programs include: energy efficiency stimulus funding, energy efficiency retrofit programs, municipal efficiency retrofits, retrofitting of city owned buildings.
If an EECBG weatherization and retrofitting project is selected, an energy audit must be completed first in order to prioritize other activities.
We foresee energy efficiency block grant funds as a crucial component of pursuing energy efficiency programs within a town, city or local government.

Alamo Infrared is the oldest and largest building inspector and energy auditor for homes, businesses, cgurches, schools, medical and government buildings in the Rocky Mountain West.

Sandy Utah Homes Stats last 30 days: The two towns I like to focus on are Sandy Utah and Murray Utah. I recently posted a blog on Murray Home stats, now its time to see whats been going on in Sandy, Utah.

The price range in Sandy is a lot larger than Murray's price range. Sandy ranges from the least
expensive mobile home in the internet for 19,900 to the most expensive home (listed by Summit Sothebys) for 3.495 mill. WOW
As I state in my Murray posting, the listings do not reflect all of the activity in the market, they do not show new construction or bank properties that are not currently posted on the MLS system.
Sandy Utah has 758 active homes/condos/townhomes/mobile homes listed on the MLS system
Single Family Homes activity over the last 30 days
Active 640
Under Contract 124
Sold 53
Condo/Townhomes:
Active 112
Under Contract 27
Sold 3
Both Sandy and Murray are fabulous choices, if you would like to learn more, please contact me or search my website for all your Utah questions/needs.

APX: Home security System: Ever considered a home security system? I feel like I live in a very safe area in Sandy, UT, but I also feel like you can never be so safe. The security system has been wonderful for my family.

Its easy to use, and the company we use is APX Alarm. They have been so responsive. I will admit that there have been times we forget to disarm the alarm system going out the garage to the backyard and they are right on top of it asking for our passwords and security code. Their alarm systems allow you to adjust for inside animals, you can choose which doors, windows, garage doors you wish to arm.
One of the best features we have is our system is hooked up to our smoke/carbon monoxide detectors. As a person who has lost everything in a fire, this benefit is so incredible. Time is always of the essence when it comes to fire, burglaries, break-in's. etc.
So if you are considering an alarm system, check out APX Alarms .... Tell them Kim sent you!
