Oktoberfest is going on up at Snowbird Ski Resort every weekend until October 10th. The admission is still free after 37 years. I've been three times this season and the bands are better than ever, there are new brews this year and the "Alphorn" guys are still sounding off with their 'Ricolla' horns. What a great way to spend a weekend - bring a coat as it gets into the 30's in the afternoons.

Thirty-seven years ago, inspired by the towering mountains that reminded them of their homeland, two men costumed in leather lederhosen, came to Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort to play their accordions and sing in their native German tongue. Over the years, Oktoberfest has become the premier celebration of German food, music, dance and fun.
Attracting over 70,000 visitors over the thirteen-day celebration, Oktoberfest has grown to become one of the largest festivals in the state of Utah. Oktoberfest includes Oktoberfest Halle featuring the tastes of Bavaria with entertainment from local and national German bands and yodelers.

Only 25 miles from Salt Lake City, Little Cottonwood Canyon can be reached by taking the 6200 South "Canyons" exit from I-215 and continue east to the canyon on U-210 following signs for Snowbird and Alta
U-210 is also called Little Cottonwood Canyon Road and it is one of the boundaries of the Little Cottonwood Neighborhood where you will find the property that I have for sale.
At the mouth of the canyon is the site where Mormon settlers quarried granite slabs to build the Salt Lake Temple. (just minutes away from LaMontagne Lanes--this small community is a resort in and of itself)

Wilderness Areas are located on both sides of the steep canyon. Summer recreation includes rock climbing, camping, picnicking and some of the best hiking.
Little Cottonwood canyon is home for two of the BEST ski and summer resorts in the state of Utah.
At world class Snowbird, Utah's only aerial tramway carries visitors to the roof of the Rockies for a panoramic view from 11,000-foot Hidden Peak.
One mile further is Alta Ski Resort. Notorious for shootings in its 26 saloons during the mining days of the 1860's and 70's, Alta died quickly, but livened up again in 1938 as the seat of Utah's first ski resort. The Albion Basin becomes a hikers and mountain bikers paradise once the snow has all melted.
This 7 mile scenic byway from the Salt Lake Valley to Alta and back requires approximately one hour. And the Ski House that I am selling is at the base of this 7-mile drive. You cannot get closer to the resorts, yet be close to shopping, hardware, Trax, and the freeways, than to be living at LaMontagne Lanes.
