Love your backyard in Tooele
As I sat in my backyard the other night, I realized what a truly great place I live in. Tooele County may seem far away or like you are living in the country but I think those are two of its greatest assests.
I spent my childhood living in the suburbs outside our nations capitol and loved every minute of it. However I soon realized the joy of peace, quiet, green hills and clean air when my life adventure took me to college in a small south west Virginia town. Life "went" at a much slower pace and you learned to appreciate the little things (as much as a college student can).
My many adventures have taken me from coast to coast as well as far north to Alaska, finally landing my husband and I here in Tooele. We are raising our family in one of the most family friendly towns. We have neighborhood schools (almost everyone walks to grade school)parks, an equestrian center/rodeo ground, swimming pools, bowling alley, movie theatre and more.
It is wonderful to live in a place that I am not afraid to let my children go outside and play. There are friends everywhere for them to play with. Most days you can find a group of children outside playing baseball, football or even hide and seek.
I can walk out my back door and sit listening to the leaves rustle in the wind and look out to some of the most beautiful mountains I have ever seen. Right in my back yard. The other night I came outside and was in awe of the amazing night sky. You could see billowing white clouds with the backdrop of the night sky accented by the stars. Yes, you can actually see the stars and make out the constellations. Right in my backyard. It was so peaceful and relaxing. It makes me grateful that I live in such an amazing place.
If you too want to love your backyard in Tooele County just let me know!

It's that time again, the 4th of July !!! YOUR INVITED !!!
Independence Day in Tooele.
For those of you that have been reading this blog awhile, you will know the drill. For those of you that don't, here we go.
The day starts off at Saturday morning @7am with the annual Tooele Chamber of Commerce breakfast.
By 8am, Berna & I and a bunch of real dedicated neighbours will have served nearly a thousand meals of ham & eggs with all the fixin's. Folks will still get done in time to get a good spot to watch the Tooele City parade on Main St.
After that will be the traditional fun and games at City Park, or for you parade junkies, time to make the short trip to Grantsville for their parade.
An afternoon of car shows and real rodeo fun will get you to the fun part of the evening.
This year, it's the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, performing on the Tooele High School football field, followed by an awesome fireworks show.. Tickets are still available at Tooele City Hall or at Macey's, and for 5 bucks you'll have a tough time beating the 4th in Tooele County.
I do want to plug another County as well as the Cache Valley Cruise-in car show is also this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. I mention this one because it's the biggest car show in the State with close to 1000 cars and bikes of all kinds. They also have a great auto-mobilia swap meet.
It's not Tooele, but.....Have a great 4th!

Deseret Peak Complex living up to it's potential In Tooele?
I remember not too many years ago, when many of us around here were questioning the logic of building a huge, multi-purpose recreation facility between Tooele and Grantsville UT.
How could we justify all of the recreational stuff in a county our size? Indoor arena, outdoor arena, huge outdoor swimming pool (in Utah where it can only be open for 3 months a year!), BMX/Motocross track, Fireman's Museum, softball complex. etc.
It has been a drain on the County budget since it was built, but I've come around.
I spent a VERY rainy Friday and Saturday out there watching my niece ( and a few hundred of her closest friends) play in a very wet softball tournament.
Most of the girls were here with a ton a family. The place was packed with people. There were also dozens of RV's and trailers parked in the campground.
Parking was definitely full, not just with softball players, but there was a rodeo going as well. Add the hardcore demolition derby folks saving their seats for Saturday's derby, and it was a buzz of activity, even with the lousy weather.
When you factor in the car and motorcycle racers just over the chain-link at Miller motorsports park, and you have quite a weekend of recreation at Deseret Peak.
It appears I was wrong (again!)
Tooele County has another jewel, for the families, and that's just one of the reasons for considering a move to Tooele.
If you would like more information about moving your family to Tooele, Grantsville UT, Stansbury Park or adjoining places, stop by our website @ Tooele Real Estate.
We'd love to talk to you about a great place to raise a family.

Home sales were down a lot in Tooele compared to '07, but prices were only slightly down.
For 2008, home sales were down by 34% as 675 residential homes sold in Tooele County Utah compared with 1033 in 2007. Prices of homes sold was also down slightly as the median price dropped 3.5% to $183,275. The average price of homes sold dropped 2.5% from 2007's average of $203,063 to $197,998.
Currently there are 520 homes for sale in Tooele Utah. The median price of these homes is $215,000, average price is $239,876, and at 2008's sales rate, there is 9.24 months of inventory. It's a buyers market in Tooele, and the list prices of many of the homes for sale will need to come down if they want to sell. 2009 should be a better year for Tooele Utah Real Estate.

These numbers are not official, but they'll be pretty accurate.

It's probably been a while since I mentioned how much I love living in Tooele County.
Where else can you do all the things you can do here ....... in a single day?.
Berna was the Chair for the annual Chamber of Commerce Santa Parade this year, and as usual, it went perfectly. My job is to line up the entrys in order at the start. I get that job because I enjoy all of the heads of the girls dance groups yelling at me about each others music so much.
The weather was beautiful, especially compared with last years blizzard. We then served cookies and hot chocolate to nearly 300 VERY patient kids, from Stansbury Park, Erda & Grantsville as they waited to sit on Santa's lap.
My favorite family had three kids from age 4 to 8, all of whom brought a list. All 3 of them seem to think they "need" a Blackberry Touchscreen. One of them thought their mom might need one too.
The kids were great. Many of the parents, not so much. Oh well.
After that, we got to go down to heaven on earth; Miller MotorSports Park. For a donation of a can of food, you could take 5 laps around the east course in your own car behind the pace car. Berna decided that today was the day to try it. Many others did too. She loved it, as I knew she would. She might have loved it more if I hadn't just put the snow tires on my car, and the guy in the new Dodge Challenger hadn't driven like such a granny.
We then had an extended session on the go cart track.
All in all, a great day!...... Is it any wonder I love living in Tooele County?
