About Bristow's Braemar

Welcome to Braemar's Clareybrook Park, located just off the intersection of Rob Roy Way and Sudley Manor Drive. Most well-known as " the park next to the pool," this area of Braemar was carved out for recreation for kids of all ages, and adults. For the purpose of this article, we won't focus on the pool. This is to acquaint you with the fun you can have virtually year round at the park.

What grabs your attention first, is the brightly colored playground. Complete with the slide and swings you would expect, Clareybrook offers many other play sets for your children to explore.

One of the little noticed features of the playground is the asphalt track that circles it. A great place for a sibling who prefers to bike or rollerblade, while their brother or sister romps on the playground.

More teenage and adult friendly are the four, half-court, basketball courts in Clareybrook. If basketball isn't your game, try a game of tennis. There's a completed fenced court.

Of course, if you'd like a mental "day at the beach", bring your volleyball. With the water splashing beside you from the pool, you might just be able to get that vacation feeling.

Family oriented activities are encouraged as well. Enjoy the covered picnic pavillion. Make an afternoon of it! Bring lunch or dinner in a basket.

And when you're done with your meal, take a relaxing stroll on the Braemar Trail. This walking path strolls through the neighborhood and connects with the Broad Run Trail. It even connects with Cedar Point Elementary.

There are so many things to do in this one location in Braemar. If you haven't yet explored it, you should. Of course, if you are looking for a communsity that offers amenities like these, there are large number of townhoues and single family homes surrounding Clareybrook Park. Homes of all sizes and price ranges.

Tonight was my second time enjoying our community pool's adult swim. They start at 8pm and run until 10pm on Wednesday nighs. The water is warm from the sun heating it up all day, and dusk is a quiet time of day in the neighborhood.

I snapped this shot before the handful of swimmers took to their lanes and started a peaceful night's swim. Amazingly, tonight I was the last one to leave. I think the "life guard social" going on in the pool was annoying to some. To me, it sounded like I was watching Knocked Up, or some other clueless, yet entertaining band of young men.

I've never been a serious swimmer, but I actually bought a pair of goggles for the pool. Think I'll keep up on this adult swim. Wish it were more than once a week.

Last summer I was out watering my flowers and shrubs, when I heard the sound of summer...the ice cream man. I didn't pay much attention to his circus-like music, but found myself humming along. Then it hit me! The ice cream man was playing Christmas carols!

Yes, the Sweet Tooth Ice Cream truck is making it's rounds again this spring. And the Christmas carols are back. It made me giggle the other day to hear JOY TO THE WORLD go right into LA CUCARACHA. Not two songs you would ever think of together, but there they were on the Sweet Tooth loop of songs.

Come on over to Braemar this summer. We'll give you a taste of Christmas in July.

(I've been waiting to post this until I can get a picture of the truck, but I feel like Murphy's got me here. Four days and not a sign of the truck. So I'm posting this hoping that Mr. Sweet Tooth will be by tomorrow afternoon/evening.)
