Drive down Duke Street in the West End of Alexandria and you can't miss it. If you're heading east towards Old Town Alexandria, it's on your right. Heading west towards Landmark Mall and Route 395, it's on your left.
IT is Cameron Station, one of the premier communities of homes in Alexandria, perhaps Northern Virginia. With a location that's close to everything, a great mix of townhouses, condos, and single-family homes, and a real neighborhood feel, Cameron Station remains a very desirable community and recent sales statistics show this to be true.
Here's a driving tour video of Cameron Station that I made several years ago:
The neighborhood has changed just a bit since that video was shot 3 years ago, but much remains the same. Ben Brenman Park, adjacent to the community is basically Cameron Station's backyard, and a great place for walking your dogs, pushing a stroller, or just enjoying a Summer's eve. Some more townhouses have been built close to Samuel Tucker Elementary School on the far south end of the community.
Use the map below to review currently available properties for rent and for sale in Cameron Station (click on any of the markers to get more information about each particular home):
Here's a summary of the sales statistics in Cameron Station for (almost) the first half of 2011:
As you can see, with an average sales price of $592,571, even with an average subsidy of $2,151, Cameron Station homes have been selling for very close to the original asking price. Homes are also selling very quickly in Cameron Station with an average days on market of only 37 days! It's a robust market.

Cameron Station: A Neighborhood in Alexandria City, VA
Cameron Station is a newer development of detached homes, townhomes, and condominiums on the far west side of Alexandria City. This self-contained neibhorhood sits in what was once Alexandria's industrial section. While it is not a gated, the natural egress is restrictive, and Cameron Station has a private feel as a result. Just off Duke Street and very near to Old Town, it is convenient to Interstates 395 and 495 which lead to and around Washington, DC.
Cameron Station is bounded on the north by Duke Street, on the east by Ben Brenman Park, on the south by the Blue Metro Rail, and on the west by Picket Street.

Cameron Station is located just off Duke St. in Alexandria VA adjacent to Ben Brenman Park and near Holmes Run Park. The Cameron Station community has single family homes, townhomes and condominiums. The architectural style of Cameron Station calls to mind nearby Old Town and the historic 18th and 19th century buildings of that part of the city. At the same time Cameron Station is planned to function like an old-fashioned Norman Rockwell small town. The hallmarks of this community are broad avenues lined brick sidewalks, trees and colonial street lamps. Cameron Station has many assorted patches of greenery called "pocket parks".

Cameron Station's townhomes are stately and impressive.

The condos of Cameron Station include Carlton Place, Condominiums of Cameron Station Blvd, Main Street, Oakland Hall, Residences at Cameron Station and Woodland Hall.

There is rarely any traffic in Cameron Station.
