WE GOT LOST IN THE MAIZE - A FUN FALL AFTERNOON FOR OUR FAMILY!!

I think it's to late now but mark your calendars for next year and go to The Layman Family Corn Maize!! What a great time for our family - we got lost in the Frank Beamer Maize - and if you have to ask who Frank Beamer is you ain't from VA!!! My 2 1/2 year old and my 7 month old grand babies both had a ball and boy did we get great pictures!! At the foot of the mountians in Montvale, VA between Bedford and Roanoke you'll find this real treasure. (ie: Beale Treasure Country) It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon - we packed everyone up after church - stopped at Subway and headed west from Timber Lake (where we live)!

The Laymans really have it planned out so nicely - there were tons of people but we were never crowded and who cared - there were tons of kids having a ball.

Cute Story - my son-in-law, Jon, was sitting on the Haywagon with his son Brylan (7 mos) on his lap doing patty-cake and my husband said he looked and there were 5 or 6 other little ones playing along including Brantley (my 2 1/2 year old). I missed it as I was trying not to fall off of my bale of hay and hang on to the pumpkins we had picked up!

Hey there. I am Lin Roberts and I am a newcomer to the real estate profession. I have been in education (mostly middle school) for 32 years. I was a teacher for 18 years, then an assistant principal in an elementary school for four years, and I just retired in July from my position as the principal of Staunton River Middle School in Moneta, VA where I worked for the last 10 years. So far, I love being a realtor. Thank the Good Lord, I have sold two houses so far. I have learned alot, and have a long way to go, but I work with some great people who have helped me tremendously. They know that I have a lot to learn, and when I ask for help, they have been very gracious to me. In general, I would say that people in real estate are positive, optimistic people, at least the ones that I have run into. When I read some the blogs posted on Active Rain, I got the same feeling.

I believe that what it takes to be a good principal is the same thing that it takes to be a good realtor. People need to know that they can count on you to work for them with their best interests at heart. Earning the trust of those I work with is my highest priority.

An Afternoon on Main Street: Centerfest in Bedford, Virginia

Despite the drizzle over the weekend, Centerfest in Bedford, Virginia was well attended. We brought our umbrella and enjoyed the food, the bands and the crafts. I actually started my Christmas shopping thanks to all of the vendors selling Virginia Tech items.

This year our lake levels have been relatively low so there are some properties that are listed as water front, however, due to drout conditions and silt build up, these properties are no longer water front. Usually pricing will indicate true waterfront from "used to be" waterfront. Also, AEP who governs our lake has certain criteria that must be followed to obtain dock permits.
