104 E. 2nd St., Richmond, VA 23224

Mon-Fri, 8:30-5:00; Sat 9:00-4:00

My first visit to Caravati’s was over 30 years ago, while I was living in Richmond. I didn’t own a home at the time, but someone had told me about this very cool and wonderful place and so I sought it out. At that time, it was a series of junk areas. Not anymore. You can still have plenty of fun digging and hours exploring, but, today, it’s much more organized. If you are looking for specific items, there are staff to help you find what you’re looking for.

“We operate a forty thousand square foot warehouse in the historic Manchester district of Richmond, VA. and have three exterior lots filled with salvage such as old brick, cobblestone, marble, and granite curbing.

They also provide a wide range of services, including furniture, lighting and hardware restoration; wood carving; welding; and, general repairs.

I’ve not yet visited this site, but it looks like the great exploration spot that the others offer. They also offer an online inventory of items that you can select from.

Though different from the three architectural salvage yards above, a couple of local sites also offer recycled house parts and some very interesting opportunities…

We want to fill the void between junk stores and pricey antique "shoppes." It is our goal to make quality furniture and antiques affordable to everyone, while still catering to the tastes of shoppers of all ages, interests, and eccentricities.

We travel great distances to buy the stuff that fills our huge, 10000 square feet of store. Browsing for the rare, the beautiful, and the unusual is as fun for us as we hope it is for you. There is really no telling what you might find here at Circa. A chic Herman Miller chair? A sparkling bust of Elvis? How about a comfy chair to fill a corner of your new apartment."

It takes planning and coordination, but when the right team comes together, the project works. This renovation project was focused on keeping the historical integrity of the home intact, while achieving a high level of energy efficiency. The result was 57% reduction in monthly electrical bills and it is hard to figure out what is old and what is new. The home simply works better now and the interior spaces are more functional!

Living Charlottesville: Melbourne Park, Downtown Charlottesville's Community of Stylish Tree-Top Homes

Virginia Gardner Charlottesville Realtor Serving Central Virginia: Real Estate Agent in Charlottesville, VA

Living Charlottesville: Melbourne Park Condominiums on Downtown Charlottesville VAMelbourne Park is a very attractive community of 52 townhome-style condominiums, located at the intersection of Park and Melbourne in Downtown Charlottesville. These homes appear to hover in the trees above Park, and, indeed, you feel a little like you're living in the trees, memory of the city seemingly far behind you.

The homes at Melbourne Park are townhome-style condominiums, which basically means the homes are maintenance-free. A monthly association of fee covers all exterior maintenance, from the roof to the siding to the deck and the landscaping. Also covered in the fees are trash collection, snow removal, common area maintenance, and more. Condominium living is great for anyone who understands the value of homeownership but really loves the convenience of someone else taking care of the maintenance. It’s the best of both worlds!

homes for sale at Melbourne Park in Charlottesville downtownMelbourne Park condominiums are quite a bit unique from other Charlottesville city properties. For one thing, they really feel like a single family home. Though attached, they are so well built that you’ll enjoy all the privacy and comfort for which you’ve been looking. Another unique quality of the homes at Melbourne Park is the “style”. I don’t mean the “type” of home; I’m referring to their stylish-ness. The homes at Melbourne Park exhibit sophisticated, intelligent design for the buyer who expects something that is well designed and of superior quality.

living room at Melbourne ParkThere’s a wonderful versatility in the floor plans at Melbourne Park, as well. Expansive, beautiful living areas offer tremendous light and distinct areas that can function traditionally or in a more transitional manner. There are also fireplaces, built-in shelving, and beautiful tree-top decks.

Most of the Melbourne Park kitchens are upgraded, and all offer an eat-in area. Plans are generally 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths, and there are added spaces for third level media rooms and terrace level libraries.

As for location, well, I can’t think of any better. Located at the corner of Park Street and Melbourne Avenue in Downtown Charlottesville, there is immediate access to the Rivanna Trail, biking and hiking, and golfing at the public course at Penn Park. The Downtown Mall is 2 miles, and all major local employers are within easy access. Even I-64 is a snap, as you are moments from Pantops.
