Elizabeth Lake Estates is a community of 320 homes in the Fox Hill area of Hampton, Virginia. It is located on the North end of the Hampton River between Fox Hill and Woodland Roads. The community has developed and grown over a 21 year span beginning in 1962 and ending with the completion of the last home in 1983. It has the distinction of being the first neighborhood to form a civic association in Virginia. The neighborhood is very family friendly and features many open areas and two pools, a 25 meter pool and a diving pool, for members. Many events are held in the neighborhood throughout the year including an Easter egg hunt by the lake and a 4th of July parade through the neighborhood. Many of the homes in the community are waterfront and many have water views of the Hampton River and the "lake". The river and lake are both tidal and navigable and are a great place to enjoy water-sports and fishing. Not really, I spent the day at the Hampton, VA BMX track with my kids and had more fun than I've had all year. These guys are so inspirational, they make me want to go out get a bike and start racing! I think I'll probably just put all that energy into 09 and make enough to open a track. As long as there happy I'm ecstatic! Here is a picture of them on there bikes, the picture is a link to there first time around the track too.

Phoebus
The community of Phoebus is a historic waterfront neighborhood in Hampton that is currently undergoing a revitalization effort in its historic district. Tax credits are being offered to promote business investment and restore historic buildings to their former glory. Due largely to these efforts Phoebus is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the Virginia Landmark Register. It sits across Mill Creek from Fort Monroe and its easy accessibility to the Chesapeake Bay and Hampton Roads Harbor make it a prime location for fishing and boating. Phoebus still retains that small town atmosphere that is largely being lost in our ever growing region and is well worth a visit.

The Chesapeake Bay Brown Pelican, once almost extinct in this area, have rebounded and there are now thousands of nesting pairs in coastal Virginia and North Carolina. The resurgence of this species has led to the Federal Government wanting to remove them from the Endangered Species list. The population of Brown Pelicans grew so quickly in the Mid-Atlantic region, after the Government banned DDT in 1972, that the US Fish and wildlife service dropped its endangered status for Virginia and North Carolina populations in 1985.
Phoebus is home to a commercial wharf used primarily by large fishing vessels that deposit their catch for processing here locally and shipping·all over·the world.
Hampton Cup Regatta

Every summer Phoebus hosts the nation's oldest hydroplane regatta on Mill Creek. Nine classes of hydroplanes race at speeds of 110-170 miles an hour. The festive atmosphere features vendors, food, local radio station giveaways, a classic car show, and plenty of horsepower.

Wythe is one the oldest, most historic neighborhoods of Hampton, Va., named after George Wythe, one of the original signers of the United States Declaration of Independence. The hundreds of homes that reside in this landmark boast of pride and beauty. Pride really does say it all when driving through the area or stopping to speak with one of the residents. Members of the neighborhood's home owners association take their roles serious in maintaining the integrity of this section of Hampton. My travels through Wythe led me to some of the friendliest people in the city. There was always someone either giving a welcoming wave or eager to offer their assistance when I had a particular question. It is not unusual to find people jogging, riding their bikes, or even having an occassional block party. The streets are inviting with large trees lining most of them. Another part of the neighborhood comes with stunning water views that make you wish you lived in one of the large homes that sit along it's banks.
Construction in Wythe began in the late 1800's but most of the homes have well-maintained and even updated. From long time residents to newcomers, this area has something for everyone, in all price ranges. Currently there are 55 homes for sale in Wythe ranging from $104,900 at 1348 square feet to $899,900 at 3834 square feet on deep water. Of course, the architecture and the uniqueness of the properties are worth far more. Homes just aren't made like this anymore.
Schools for Wythe include Hampton High School and Armstrong Elementary.
