I get a lot of inquiries from younger adults who are considering moving to Williamsburg VA. Their first question is What is there to do in Williamsburg VA. ? Isn't it full of old people ? In an effort to prove there is nightlife in the area for people under 50 I will highlight as many events and concerts as I can.
Laughing Redhead Studio presents
Clean Comedy Nights at The Kimball Theater All seats $15
Featuring Isaac Witty Sat., Sept. 13 at 7:30 p.m.
Featuring Michael Rayner and special guest Moira Quirk Sat., Oct. 4 at 7:30 p.m.
Isaac WITTY was born with a comedy-ready name (Isaac means "laughter"). His comedy tendencies took root when he was quite young, touring with his parents, who made their living performing Christian
sketch comedy all over the country. He first tried his hand at stand-up when he was 16. Over his
10-year career, Isaac has developed a clean, innovative, hilarious act that has been featured on The, Comedy Central's Premium Blend, The Bob and Tom Show, Garrison Keillor's A Prairie Home Companion on National Public Radio, as well as the prestigious Montreal Comedy Festival. Come on out for another great night of laughter at Clean Comedy Night.
Michael Rayner lives in Los Angeles but hails from Michigan. He is an audience favorite,
performing more than 10,000 shows for corporations, clubs, colleges, and theme parks. His
combination of hilarious tricks and stunts, uproarious stand-up, and improv is a hit with all ages.
He has been likened to Steve Martin and Robin Williams and has appeared on The Late Show with, and other television programs. He is a favorite on David Letterman, Sesame Street, The Extreme Gong Show
warm-up act for That 70s Show, Dharma and Greg, and Two Guys and a Girl. Michael has two little
girls and a wife (Moira Quirk).
Moira Quirk was raised in England, but has lived in America long enough to no longer use the
terms fortnight or knickers. Her first American role was as Mo the Referee on Nickelodeon's popular
sports game shows Guts and Global Guts, which was ironic because she doesn't know a thing about
sports. She has hosted other television specials and events for Nickelodeon all across the United
States and the United Kingdom and can currently be heard on the Nickelodeon cartoon My Life as a. The Los Angeles Times said, "Her act is a sly, brilliant take on the American perception
of British reserve concealing a capacity for outrageousness . . . precision delivery and crisp timing.
Moira performs all over the United States at clubs, theaters, and universities.

This promises to be a fantastic show at the beautiful Kimball Theater in Merchant Square. The acoustics are great and there's not a bad seat in the house!
The Kimball Theater has been a Williamsburg establishment since 1933, and continues to offer a variety of live entertainment to the area. Interestingly, the Kimball Theater was financed by New York City's legendary John D. Rockefeller, and although renovations were made to the building in 2000, much of its charm and history is still intact.

Our local adult alternative radio station. ( my favorite)
Coming Wed, September 7th at The Kimball Theater in Williamsburg, VA : Brooklyn artist Mike Doughty combines rich melodies, dense rhythms, syncopated lyrics, and spacious, panoramic sound in his latest album, Golden Delicious.
Dave Matthews, a big Doughty fan, ran into the former
Soul Coughing frontman at Bonnaroo and signed him to his own ATO
label. Doughty had his first smash in 2005 with "Looking at the World from
the Bottom of a Well," a hit featured on the Grey's Anatomy soundtrack.
Doughty brings his "dude theory"-the idea of making a relaxed record that
sounds like a bunch of dudes playing music for the pure joy of playing-in
addition to a penchant for intricate wordplay to the Kimball for a night of
funky, acoustic sound. Mike has a special "question-jar show" planned for us
, taking your questions from a jar to answer between songs.
All seats are $17.50/ General seating/ Doors open at 630

Some of his songs you have proably heard: "Looking at the World From the Bottom of a Well," "27 Jennifers," and "Fort Hood."
Before emerging as a solo artist, Mike Doughty was best known as the frontman of the unique avant-garde group known as Soul Coughing.

I have pleaded with my wife to write something about running in Williamsburg VA. Knowing that it is one of the important things in her life. She is currently coaching Cross Country and Track at Lafayette High School. She also is the director for Team Flash a local AAU track and field team for kids from 6 to 18. Here is here post:
My husband has been begging me to blog about Williamsburg. Since one of my favorite things to do in Williamsburg is trail run, I thought I would write about that. Running early in the morning is great, but if you are going to trail run, you must find a gullible "spider web destruct-or" to clear the trail ahead of you. It is annoying a gross to have to feel your way through silky, sticky orbs- not to mention having a staring contest with an eight legged non runner. Mountain bikers do a fabulous job of clearing the trail at Freedom Park, so you can hope for an early riser. You can run 3 miles or 10 miles easily at Freedom (at the intersection of Centerville rd and Longhill Rd ) on the trails. New trails have been added and are not on the map. If you follow the hiking trail around and cross a bridge, a new Mt bike trail is on the left. There are lots of mounds and bumps, but far less roots to contend with compared to the other trails. I just about always see snakes and multiple deer bounding (the deer, not the snakes). My ankle stability and strength have definitely improved. Shady and quiet, but make way for the bikes. I never use an ipod so I can hear the wildlife and the Mt bikers approaching behind me. Nice spacious-porta potty.
I also like New Quarter Park (in Queens Lake)- there is about a 6 mile Mt bike loop. It is a little more twisting than Freedom, not too bad on the roots. It feels about 20 degrees cooler in the shade of this trail. I see a lizard about every 10 feet and a squirrel every 5. I had a turkey buzzard fly up into my face and saw a 4 foot black snake the same day. Exciting stuff. There are many bailouts on one side of the trail which is nice in case you are having a bad day or are attacked by the wildlife.
I had never been on the trail around Golden Horseshoe Golf Course until the other day. It was about 3 miles I think and very nice. It would be a nice add on to a Country Rd/Carters Grove run or a Colonial Williamsburg tour.
Many swear by the Matoaca trails and I enjoy them but have not completely learned my way around. I usually start at Berkley Middle (in the bamboo forest) and do an out and back. Waller Mill (Airport Rd) is maybe 3 miles and mostly surrounded by water. There are a few other trails around the park to add on and paddle boating is also an option. The trails are quiet and there are a few nice up hills. You might find yourself not able to resist doing hill repeats (or incredibly able to resist hill repeats). Running in Williamsburg is awesome!

If you have any running questions in Williamsburg Va I am happy to forward them to Ellen.
