Our Fall colors could have been better, but those Pears come through every time

A few weeks ago, I drove up to the Blue Ridge Parkway to see about getting some photographs to use on my website and blog. The color was disappointing this year, but I managed to get one or two pretty photographs...

This weekend, while working on our own property in Earlysville, taking care of Fall clean-up, I was stopped in my tracks by the beauty of our surroundings.

Beauty of Charlottesville, Virginia in Fall

I have to say, however, that there's no color quite as stunning as the color we get from the Bradford Pears which line Bleak House Road. They bring joy to all of us who live and walk along this beautiful road.

The Earlysville Animal Hospital, another reason to love Earlysville

earlysville veterinary hospital in earlysville vaWe are dog people. We also have and love kitties, and we love all of our birds and the various wildlife we enjoy here on our four acres in Earlysville, Virginia. But, when it comes right down to it, we are dog people. We've always enjoyed the company of Dalmatians, and the two who live with us now are Brunello, the pure bread Dal on the right, and Vino Nobile, a rescue mix.

Vino in a e-ringVino has been having issues with an ear hematoma, and it finally got to the point that we had to take him in for surgery. We've been back and forth with it, hoping that it would ultimately correct itself.

All of our animals have been patients of the Earlysville Animal Hospital. Dr. John Gruss has been very patient with us during this ear event, and his wife, Kathy, is the veterinary doctor who finally corrected the problem with surgery. The dog did not have a great night, and this morning Vino and I were waiting at the hospital at 7:30 when earlysville animal hospital veterinary clinicthey opened. The vet tech was patient and thorough, very helpful. When Kathy arrived, I literally talked with her in the parking lot as she arrived. I don't imagine I could expect such superior, patient, friendly service from every veterinary hospital, but the Gruss's, the other vets in the practice, and each tech and member of the administrative staff are always willing to take the time to help us, and truly we appreciate them and the fact that they settled their home here in Earlysville.

Mornings that warrant thanks

I've had a bit of a busy week work-wise, winding it up with a sick pooch who came through some surgery okay but pretty uncomfortable. In addition to putting on a great new listing downtown in the Woodhayven area (details to come over the weekend), I have a sophisticated townhouse condo coming on in the next few weeks (also downtown), and I'm waiting to receive paperwork back for a hot new listing near the University. This is all good, and I'm just working my way through the paperwork, ads, and social media marketing. Our baby Vino's surgery sort-of hung with me all week, but he did great. We got walks in Monday through Wednesday, something that nearly always sets the stage for productive days. I try to remember to take my camera, because I can often get amazing photographs. If ever I begin to take our good fortune for living in Charlottesville for granted, I need only to remember the space we share along Bleak House Road in Earlysville.
