About Falls Church's Lake Barcroft

Lake Barcroft (more)

Lake Barcroft - Falls Church - Northern Virginia

I found myself back in Lake Barcroft again this afternoon inspecting a modest, one-story rambler. Still, it had a funky, "contemporary" design with a split thrown in (extra sunken living room, maybe?) for good measure.

If you can't take "the city" (Washington, DC), and you can't handle Maryland (traffic police alone might be a deal killer for that state), and you are all finished with the hoopla of Arlington and Old Town, then Lake Barcroft is the place for you. Beautiful, hidden, serene, Lake Barcroft offers an escape within a half dozen miles of DC.

It will cost you a million dollars, and many trips to Lowe's, but you get to tool around the lake in a pontoon boat. How cool is that? You'll probably get one with the purchase! And you get a beach, and views, and friends! The latter is true--I saw far less BMWs in Lake B than in Arlington, that's for certain :-)

So, save your money and move there. Now.

There is an area in Falls Church that I always seem to forget about: Lake Barcroft. Also called "Malbrook"--which is the exact same area only a tad to the west, Lake Barcroft is a hidden gem consisting of 1960's style contemporary homes on larger plots of land. You have likely driven buy it a million times, either on Rt 7 or Columbia Pike; however, it's really hidden and quiet. Last week I appraised a property on Crossroads that was just amazing. When I make my next million, that's an area in which I'll consider buying :-)
