Exeter – Exeter is a family-friendly community consisting of single-family detached homes and townhomes.

Exeter is located in the Town of Leesburg, Virginia. The Exeter grounds are steeped in rich history. The Exeter Plantation was built on property owned by George Winston Selden in 1796. In 1843, George Washington’s great-nephew, John Augustine Washington married Eleanor Selden at Exeter. During the Civil War, battles took place on or close to the Exeter grounds. General Jubal Early and his troops and John Mosby’s rangers sought refuge on the property at different times during the war. A barn on the property was burned down as retribution for aid provided to Mosby.

At one time, the Exeter property was listed in the National Register of Historic Places and Virginia State Landmarks Registry. In 1980, the house was destroyed in a fire and the property was sold to create the Exeter community. Exeter’s developer was able to save an out building and have it restored, and is now used as a community clubhouse.

Exeter residents enjoy great amenities including a swimming pool, clubhouse, four tennis courts, and two multi-purpose courts.

The community of Exeter is moments from the Ida Lee Recreation Center perfect for year round swimming, sports and activities great for the kids and adults. Spend an afternoon searching for antiques in downtown Leesburg or head over to the outstanding shopping just moments away at the Dulles Town Center or the Leesburg Premium Outlets.

Exeter is only minutes from the Leesburg Executive airport and less then 30 minutes from the Dulls International Airport.

Exeter is served by the outstanding Loudoun County Public Schools. Students in elementary school attend either Leesburg or Frances Hazel Reid Elementary School. Students in middle school attend Smarts Mill Middle School. Students in high school attend Tuscarora High School.
