WW2 Vets in Manassas

My husband, Arthur, is a WW2 Marine vet. He served with the 6th Marine Division in the South Pacific, Okinawa and China.

On Sunday, September 20 American Legion Post 10 in Manassas invited Prince William County WW2 vets to a luncheon. It's purpose was to prepare for a parade.

On Veteran's Day November 7, the City of Manassas will hold its' Inaugural Veteran's Day Parade from 11:00 AM to Noon. WW2 vets will be featured in the parade.

The last time veterans were in a parade in Manassas was 1911 when both Confederate and Union vets marched together as a sign of reconciliation. You may recall Manassas was the sight of two significant Civil War battles.

Please note the number of WW2 women represented in the photo - one was even a Marine mess sargent who served on Guam.

My husband says he served in WW2 to make the US safe for my later arrival -
he's the handsome devil who is #6 from the right in the back row.

We owe a great debt to all our vets, but the number of WW2 vets is dwindling more rapidly every day. Come out to Manassas on November 7 and proudly acknowledge the contribution of "The Greatest Generation"
