About Manassas' Old Town Manassas

Old Town Manassas Virginia Has That Small Town Feeling You're Longing For..

Peggy James-Full Time Realtor I Serve The Lake Ridge Virginia Area: Real Estate Agent in Lake Ridge, VA

Yesterday, I went to meet with a dear friend in Old Town Manassas Virginia for lunch. It was a rainy brisk fall day here in Virginia. My friend suggested we lunch at the City Square Cafe. It was a charming neighborhood restaurant with a very friendly staff and a quiet atmosphere. We both ordered their signature sandwich which was a Ham Sandwich with apple slices and Swiss cheese on a whole grain bread served with fries. Yum! If you haven't been there, they have a very nice menu check it out hereholiday decorations

Now it was time to walk around and explore what Old Town Manassas Virginia had to offer in the way of shopping. We were immediately drawn into the shop photographed below, just because of the window dressings. The polar bears snow scene is something you would see in a New York Macy's window during the holidays. Gorgeous! This place oozes charm! It's called Allyssa Bryn, Home Interiors & Gifts

Once inside it got even better! This is the perfect place to find all those gifts you need for your girlfriends and co-workers. You can even book a Day Spa visit, get you hair done, shop for Silver Jewelry, Vera Bradley,Shoes, Sweaters, Scarves and fashion jewelry. It is a wonder boutique store. In the back is another shop where you can find soaps, baby clothes, have even have things mono-gramed. There are so many unique one of kind impulse items. You know the kind of store I'm talking about. The kind that fills you up at every turn.

Next we headed over to the Opera House Gifts & Gourmet. Now this is a gorgeous shop! Everything from wines, to find chocolates, glassware, bar items, awesome hostess gifts and unique one of kind items you would love to give or receive. The wine selection is extensive.Trust me on this one.

As we walk we happened upon the window that said Coffee-Expresso-Pastries and Cakes no one had to twist our arms. In we went. The shop was called Persnickety Cakes . I don't know about you, however there is something wonderful about being able to order a cup cake. It gives me a chance to try something I have never had for a very small investment. I tried, a Red Velvet cup cake, and my friend had a Peanut Butter Cup Cake, both were delicious. Each cupcake was $1.89. They do special orders and cakes as well. If you haven't been to Old Town Manassas Virginia lately, there is no better time.

With the reality of Global Warmingand the need for people to spend less time on the road and more time with family, popularity of communities with walkability are on the rise. Old Town Manassas is one of these communities that have restaurants, shopping, community events, museums, and many other activities within walking distance to many residential homes. The biggest benefit not mentioned is the access to the VRE, Virginia Railway Express, the commuter train that runs from Broad Run to Washington DC’s Union Station. This is a major benefit to a walking community like Old Town Manassas to have a commuter train station.

With the train commuters can enjoy the commuting time more because it allows people to work, read, or even catch some shut eye on the way to work. Mass transit like this also can have less stress on commuters who otherwise would be stuck in traffic. The other benefit for using mass transit is for the environment and generating less carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere. The truth about our environment is obvious and becoming more important to many people and businesses.

The communities with restaurants, shopping and events allow people to become more involved then they otherwise would. Many families are also looking to enjoy more time together which can be realized in a community that has these things within walking distance. Take for example the number of meals Americans eat out and the benefit people will gain by simply walking to those restaurants. This is also true for retail business and other service related businesses like insurance, attorneys, CPA’s and many others.

While searching for a new home it is smart to find an area that holds its prices better then most to protect the value of a home. These communities on average hold there value much better then areas that do not have such benefits and that is great for the value in a declining market. The challenge is with a demand for these communities the prices are generally higher then other areas. Whether it is this type of community that fits your needs or something else make sure you have a knowledgeable agentto help consult in that purchase.

It is extremely well organized with nooks and crannies that invite liesurely book browsing. The only way to describe the store is that it exudes an air of authenticity coupled with the antique charm of the 90 year old building it calls home.
