The first of 700 homes in Waynewood were delivered in the early 60's. They were extremely well crafted by Gosnell Builders.
A very attractive feature is that many of the split level homes have a fourth upper level which is a walk-in standup attic. Of course, many of them have now been finished into additional living space.
Waynewood Elementary is located within the subdivision. Although it was a futuristic concept in the beginning it is still highly valued and was a prototype for similar schools in later subdivisions.
The Waynewood Swim Club is also an integral part of the social fabric of the community.
Bordering the George Washington Parkway has contributed to the continued popularity of the community. There is an 11 mile long jogging/bike path from the Mount Vernon Estate to Olde Towne Alexandria. I know, because we have biked it and walked it countless times.
Yes, there is Fairfax County Connector Bus Service to the Huntington Metro.
