The annual Richmond Jazz Festival at Maymont is this weekend August 14 to 15th, featuring some of the biggest names in local, national and international jazz. The festival will be held on the grounds of the 100-acre Maymont park in Richmond, Virginia.

The two-day, multi-stage event will feature more than 20 artists, representing mostly jazz, as well as other diverse music genres. An undisclosed portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Maymont Foundation, the Richmond Jazz Society and Educational Learning Opportunities. Some of the artists scheduled to perform include Chaka Khan, Boney James, Poncho Sanchez, Norman Brown, Stanley Clarke, Chuck Mangione, Rick Braun and Richard Elliott, Alex Bugnon, and many more.


The festival gates open at noon and close down at 10 p.m on August 14 and 9 p.m. on August 15. Tickets purchased in advance are $25 for one day or $40 for a two-day pass. Tickets purchased at the gate will be $30 for one day, or $50 for a two-day pass. Maymont will be closed to the public this weekend giving ticket holders access to the entire park.

This is a family event, children are allowed pets are not permitted. Alcohol is only allowed on the grounds if purchased on site. So grab the kids and come on down for some food, fun and great music.
