My Rotary club has been assigned to Rolling Road in Springfield for many years. We normally go out on a Saturday morning, then regroup (after washing our hands) for coffee and fellowship.
It is a quarterly commitment for three years in order for your sign to be posted on the roadway. We spend about three hours four times a year. You can get more details about the volunteering opportunity from VDOT's Adopt-A-Highway site.
When not busy picking up trash in Springfield my husband and I are busy selling homes to and for people.

Most people thinking of buying a condo think of highrises and one level living. Yet the Cardinal Forest neighborhood in Springfield VA offers a twist on the concept of condo living.
Buyers are pleasantly surprised when they drive through the Cardinal Forest neighborhood and discover not only are there one, two & three bedroom single level units but also two level townhouses and a 2100 square foot three level townhouse as well. There are a total of 68 buildings and 1050 units that make up the neighborhood. The condominium fee in Cardinal Forest includes everything but your "plug ins" and whatever internet/cable/phone bundle you may choose.

Owners can walk to the Giant, Whole Foods, Starbucks and the Washington Sports Club, all within a mile. If you are commuting to DC or the Pentagon you are only a short step out your front door to catch the 18G express bus. The Springfield metro is about15 minutes away and if Fort Belvoir is your destination you can be at Tulley Gate usually within 30 minutes. Cardinal Forest also shares the back gate entrance to Lake Accotink Park, one of Fairfax Counties great parks.
If a move to Springfield VA or anywhere in Northern Virginia is in your future give the Cindy Jones and CJ Realty Group a at call at 703-346-2213. Having owned, lived and sold homes in every zip code in Springfield there is a good chance we can give you the straight scoop on many of our terrific neighborhoods. Our approach is no hassle, no pressure just a chance to meet and talk about whether buying a home is the right choice for you in today's market.

If you are just moving to West Springfield (VA) from another part of the country the term "slug line" make you go YUCK. However for anyone who has lived in the area for awhile the term "slug line" means a great way to get from a West Springfield neighborhood to the Pentagon or other major DC employment areas.
One of the questions that anyone relocated to the area asks is about public transportation options. Once newcomers understand the value of a slug line...it is FREE then they wonder if they can find a home within a mile of a slug line.
The good news is that the local MLS does give us the option to do a map search based on homes within a radius and it is easy to provide a list of available homes within a specified area. For example this map shows a one mile radius around four specific slug lines close to popular West Springfield neighborhoods.

1. Cardinal Forest Shopping Center/Shell Station
South side of Old Keene Mill Road
2. Daventry
Hunter Village Drive and Old Keene Mill Road
2. Sydenstricker Commuter Lot
Sydensticker and Fairfax County Parkway
Bus and Slug Line
4. Rolling Valley Commuter Lot
Next to Rolling Valley Shopping Center
9300 Old Keene Mill Road
Bus and Slug Line
If you are considering a move to West Springfield and need help look for a home close to a "slug line" or any other form of public transportation give the CJ Realty Group a call at 703-346-2213. Let our experience put you on the road to home ownership and maybe even find you a free ride to your office.

This past Tuesday (the first Tuesday of the month) the Board of Directors of the West Springfield Rotary Club held our monthly meeting to discuss club business. "Service Above Self"
Of the 5 REALTORS® who are members of the club three of us currently serve on the BOD.
Our meetings are conducted over dinner at the Springfield Golf and Country Club and last about 1.5 hours. The time commitment may seem minimal, but our actions leave the club's mark on our community.
We discuss
Membership in Rotary is normally not as time consuming as you may think - in my case it is this year because it is the year of my term as club president.
Most importantly, membership in any religious, fraternal or service club provides those of us who are competitors in the real estate business the opportunity to put our competitive nature aside and work together contributing to what we Rotarians call
