This has to be the worst storm I have seen flooding wise, since I moved to Virginia Beach in the late 1970's. A strong Northeaster, remnants of TS Ida, pounded Virginia Beach from November 11th through November 13th, 2009. Massive tidal flooding occurred in the Lynnhaven River Basin along with endless heavy rain, winds up to 70 mph, and unprecedented Chesapeake Bay wave action. This combination led to the worst storm in years.
Bubba's Crab House was substantially flooded. Surf's up at Chick's Oyster Bar

My old Boston Whaler rides it out (in water right of center) This one wasn't as lucky!

"CAPE SANTA - 2008"
On Saturday, December 13th, 2008, the 5th annual Cape Story by the Sea "Cape Santa" event was held on a beautiful and crisp day.
The excitement starts as Santa cruises through the Shore Drive neighborhood of Cape Story on his "sleigh", stopping to talk with the kids. Then he stops at the neighborhood park to give a gift to each child. Hamburgers, hot dogs, and warm cider are served. All parents are asked to bring an unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots.
Many thanks to the Cape Story Civic Association and to neighbors Mark Weiss, Ginny and Tracy Stover, Dan Peters, Matt Angelo, Todd Solomon, Empsy Munden, Bo Bradshaw, and others who helped make this event happen and contributed their time and efforts.

Cape Story By The Sea Sunset
We finally get a nice, warm, and sunny Saturday to head for the beach. Here is my youngest boy checking out another one Saturday night. The sun sets over the bay here for most of the Spring and Summer.
You can tell who on the beach watching has been to Key West, by the clapping at the precise moment the sun goes below the horizon.

Do you own rental property in Cape Story By The Sea?
I do, and I also live there.
I believe that property in the neighborhood is an excellent long term investment, maybe having the best future appreciation potential in all of Virginia Beach. Its proximity to the Chesapeake Bay, First Landing State Park, and the Lynnhaven River watershed, make the neighborhood very desirable.
I am REALTOR with RE/MAX Alliance. I sell homes but also manage residential rentals. If you own a home in the neighborhood that you rent out or are considering renting your home, or if you are looking to buy in Cape Story, please give me a call. I would be more than happy to help.
