Sandbridge is located South of the U.S Navy's Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dam Neck, north and east of the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge and west of the Atlantic Ocean.
In it's earlier history Sandbridge had a station to assist ships in distress. Later on, it became a duck hunters paradise with several hunting clubs along the Back Bay. In the 1950's part of the land was purchased and developed. Lots were platted and the first house was built in the early 1950's. Since then there has been continues building through the decades. Until recently there were only a couple hundred families living in Sandbridge Beach in Virginia Beach, now a days there are over 2000. There are many McMansions that rent during the summer season creating cash flow for the lucky owners while enjoying the rest of the year for themselves. What are the 3 most famous words in Virginia Beach Real Estate - location, location, location and the Sanctuary Condos at Sandbridge are no exception for the long range real estate believer.
Sandbridge is populated with hundreds of detached homes that flank both the Atlantic ocean and the Back Bay.
Although Sandbridge is isolated from most of the urban sprawl, it is close to shopping at Red Mill Commons, numerous restaurants, and one of the most sought out school districts (Kellam) in the city of Virginia Beach.
Mostly rentals, but some locals live year round what continues to be "the best kept real estate secret in Virginia Beach and Southeast Virginia".
The condos at the Sanctuary number over 200 units with many being rental properties during the summer. The setting for this development is more like a resort than condo building. The peaceful ocean just minutes from your door is unequalled.
Many of these condos were purchased during the Virginia Beach real estate boom. Prices have decreased and bargains are available.
More Sanctuary sellers will enter the market needing to sell. When the market settles out, the Sanctuary will be a great place to own a condo as future building for this type of dwelling will be limited to non existent in the Sandbridge area.
Condo fees are $440 and more monthly. Current active Sandbridge listings include the following: (you can view all active sandbridge real estate here)
Sandbridge real estate foreclosures here.
Liveability Index: Would you live here? - I would in a heartbeat!!

Sandbridge Dolphin Challenge 5K and 10K
Ever since I completed the Rock N Roll 1/2 Marathon in September my 4 yr old has been wanting to run. Not just jog - run. He wants to run a race and win a trophy!
Every day when I get home from work he is asking - "Can we run again? I really need to practice running."
Pat Bowler - a co-worker of mine is helping to organize a race here in Virginia Beach - The Sandbridge Dolphin Challenge 5k, 10k and 1 mile kids fun run and he suggested a kids run would be perfect.
So tomorrow morning 8 am by little guy will be running his very first race! I am so excited for him and love his enthusiasm in running!
Come on down and join us in Sandbridge, VA and support a great cause and to cheer on my Hunter! I will be taking lots of photos and video of my little guy.
