Jazz Up Your Walls-A Little Graffiti Art Will Do

The house was unassuming from the outside. A typical Prince William County brick front colonial with a great lot. Nothing unusual on the main level and since it was a foreclosure the buyer's expectations weren't set to high. Upper level had 4 nice size bedrooms and other than a little clean up the house was receiving two thumbs up.

Then we ventured to the lower level recreation room. This was obviously the party room in the house. At first glance the thought was perhaps vandals had come into the house. But then we realized that the graffiti was there on purpose. All of the walls had been covered with words and slogans. Honestly it was "tastefully" done and when you consider what we all encounter in foreclosure properties it was a pleasant surprise.

The house is on the buyer's short list. It has multiple commuting options to the Pentagon where he is stationed, good schools and close to shopping. In a way it might be hard to paint over the graffiti but at least it only needs paint and not someone to come in with a mask and protective clothing to take out mold! Another day of interesting things you find when showing foreclosures in Prince William County.

Real Estate sales thriving in Woodbridge, VA.....

Okay, I may be getting a little ahead of myself, but properties are selling at a rapid pace in Prince William County--at least at the lower end. I have been having an incredibly difficult time finding an investment property for an investor client of mine. Our latest was a property that was on the market for 3 days and when I called, it was gone. There were 8 offers on it. This has been happening time and time again. Right now we are regrouping and thinking of other startegies, but just about anything selling for under $130,000 is moving faster than what we can keep up.

What does this mean? It makes my job harder, but I am encouraged. Obviously investors are sweeping up all these foreclosures at the lower end and helping reduce the amount of inventory in this county. The less foreclosures we have, the better. I think it is only a matter of time before areas that have been inundated with foreclosures see their communities improve as home owners move in and start keeping up their lawns. Even more important, is that this may actually pave the way for price increases.

I am very excited and hoping that this is the beginning of the end and that 2009 will prove to be a much better year for this county.

Old Bridge Chamber Orchestra and New Dominion Choraliers Holiday Concert

The Old Bridge Chamber Orchestra and the New Dominion Choraliers frequently come together for concerts at special times of the year. Most recently, for example, they performed at the Hylton Memorial Chapel in honor of Veteran's Day. My husband and I try to the best of our ability to attend their individual and joint performances.

Both the orchestra and choraliers are volunteer organizations with extremely motivated and professionally accomplished members. Many members of both organizations are either active duty or retired military musicians and vocalists, professional musicians or vocalists with other organizations or local citizens who want to contribute to the cultural wealth of the Prince William County experience. Whatever their background Arthur and I are proud to recommend them to our community.

Woodbridge Virginia Community Choir Holiday Concert Schedule

The Woodbridge Community Choir was started in a local church in 1966 and has been an all volunteer organization ever since - 42 years and going strong.

What is most noteworthy about the Woodbridge Community Choir is that all of their concerts are presented free to the public. The by-laws prevent charging admission for a performance.

Concerts are held in area churches and schools large enough to hold their audiences.
The choir has appeared a number of times at the Kennedy Center, the Ellipse, and the Pavilion in Washington, D.C. during the Christmas season.
One of the highlights in their history was a live performance on NBC's Today Show with Willard Scott in December of 1986
